Great idea and using the bottom of seed trays is super.... I am sure I have a few broken trays laying around anyway. I will be building one of these today... waiting for spring in this frozen frigid place called Canada.... CANZUK.... spread the word. Lets stand together

Hi ,paint the inside black and close the bottom in a little,good show ole boy Cherrio !

Would a darker-colored interior heat up faster? Wouldn't condensation fog up the glass/acrylic? Does the moisture just drip out the bottom screen?
@foodrelated3 жыл бұрын
Yes in theory. It seems there is enough air flow to prevent the condensation problem you describe.

Very cool. I wonder if you could design something like that for curing sweet potatoes, except I live in growing zone 5b in USA, not as warm.

What is the tray you are using? And for what? Don't we need an inclination of the box

Hello Tom, I watched your video and it was good for me. Thanks for making it. I wanna make a kitchen waste dehydrator by using the wind and solar energies. Our area is windy in the mornings and evenings, with limited hours of sun, and it is little bit cold too. We live at the foot of mountain. So I need to make my waste dry as soon as possible. Could you help me ?

Depending on the heat, a few days maybe.

did u used glass at the top? or what thing was that, kindly guide
@foodrelated3 жыл бұрын
Not glass, although you could. The material was a piece of clear acrylic (plexiglass)

I was going make huge one but smaller one might work better.
@foodrelated3 жыл бұрын
Don’t make it too small as it’s better to spread the fruit out so it’s not touching...

This is almost a solar oven, no air circulation, heat rises but needs an escape.

Sir how does it work in my local climate? I have 35 degree Celsius in day time and 27 degree Celsius at night
@foodrelated3 жыл бұрын
That would work very well!! TBH you could probably just lay stuff in the sun with those temperatures.

No comments? I was sure se one would comment on the food safety (or lack thereof) the seed tray.
@foodrelated3 жыл бұрын
Why...? It’s plastic and has been sterilised.
@slaplapdog3 жыл бұрын
@@foodrelated I'm not sure what a seed tray is, but some plastics leach or off gas chemicals, especially when heated. Other do not, and this difference is part of what makes a plastic "food safe" or not.

@@foodrelated I have gone thru 3 microwaves and used the large glass turntables to place my fruits and dry them out in the sun.
