The reason to not leave it on carpet isnt because the carpet fibers could get damaged, its because the hot steam will damage the glue that holds it to the floor. It can also leave too much water which can create mold and warp the wood under the carpet.

Yes! So anyone interested in buying, do what James did and keep it on low and keep it moving. It won't be like the infomercials where you go from a black carpet to pristine white with a light weight mop. Don't ruin your carpets trying to achieve the impossible.

I’ve been using steam mops for 30 years. No chemicals, floors are cleaned and sterilized in one swipe. No messy bucket and dirty water. I like my Bissell, and I paid $40 for it a few years ago. The replacement pad we’re about a dollar when I bought them on Amazon.

Keep the chemicals around for sticky messes. It’s a pain to get the steamer out, fill it up, wait for it to heat up…and then you have to wash the pad. Some messes are just worth using some spray cleaner and a paper towel!

I returned my steam mop, because I felt that I was continually cleaning the kitchen floor with dirty pads (which I had changed during the cleaning session). I did bring home a Bissell Crosswave mop, because it cleans the floor and removes the dirty water to a separate chamber. It also has wheels that makes it easier to push. An important feature for my 70 year old frame.

@chriscramer1196
@chriscramer1196 2 жыл бұрын
@@pebbles7864 First of all, my kitchen floor hasn't been so clean in a very long time. I can no longer get on my hands and knees to clean the floor. So I have used a wet swifter type mops or an old sponge mop without great results. I still had dirty water to contend too. With the Bissell Crosswave, you can vacuum carpeted areas and move on over to the kitchen floor. [This machine is not designed to shampoo carpets, only lightly vacuum them. ] I vacuum and clean my kitchen vinyl floor at the sametime. To clean the Bissell, you need to dissemble the different parts and rinse everything. Before I pour the dirty water down the drain I insert a sink strainer to catch the debris. Then I let the parts air dry in a webbed laundry bag. This maybe a negative for some people, but you have to lug a big bucket around full of clean and dirty water, clean the mop and the bucket too. I clean the floor more often because it's easier on my back and I don't have to hire anyone to clean for me.

Totally love steam mops. Your floors are dry in a heartbeat. It makes the house smell fresh with no chemicals. I use a handheld steamer to clean the grout and it just buzzes through the mess, then you wipe the residue up with a towel. Can't use the steam mop anymore as our new house has hardwood floors that need to be resealed and none of the steam mops I've ever had are recommended for hardwood floors.

I didn't use this brand, BUT, aside from not letting the steamer sit on a carpet (any steamer mop), there is also don't let it sit on a vinyl floor. It heats the floor material and creates a permanent steamer head rise (like a small hill) in the vinyl. Unfortunately, I found that out because I left it standing and steaming on a linoleum floor.

I have never used that particular brand but I've got experience using the X5 stream mop, the earliest versions of the Bissell, and now my Dupree whole house steamer. The floor steamers are great, just make sure to change the mop pad every couple of minutes to avoid streaks or residue. As for cleaning the mop pads, they never get truly white again, but that's ok since you're not looking at them while you're mopping the floor. I think you're really going to enjoy this little mop. Try using it on your shower tile and inside the tub.

If you decide to keep your Swifter Amazon has generic pads for most steamers. I bought a pack of 4, plopped some velcro strips on the bottom of my Swifter and use that and a spray bottle of Awesome (Dollar Tree) for small patches when I don't want to drag out the steamer! Then I can toss them in the washer and use them with the steamer as well. Then hit the larger area with the steam mop when I have the free time for the fill/plug/wait for heating/then mop.

I first used a steam mop about 10 years ago, and I love them. Mine were Sharks. The only issue I had with them is that if the vacuum doesn't get all the loose dirt up, the stream mop just scoots it around. So, I bought a mop that also vacuums and it is pretty good, but I have a couple of issues with it. One is that it doesn't constantly steam, and the other is that it sometimes leaves too much water on the floor. But, I like that you can only use tapwater with it and it has both a clean water tank and a dirty water tank, and it has a self cleaning roller. It also doesn't get close enough to the edges, so you still have to clean the edges some other way.

4:52 - If you are going to compare a steam mop to a swiffer, at least use the wetjet version of swiffer which is cordless (battery operated) and will do a lot better job of cleaning the dry messes. It seemed like you were rooting for the steam mop to win and then were suddenly disappointed when it didn't do it in one pass not to mention spread the jam even further. lol

I have a similar steam mop which even uses the same pads, but I got it at Aldi for like $15. Does work like a charm though

I have the shark steam mop, the to heads spin, don't leave it in one spot to long, found out the hard way, did my epoxy floor, after I was done I shut it off, stood it up the shark stands by itself, then the kids needed something, went back to grab the mop, left circles In my expoy where it was sitting.

I have a floor steamer, but a different brand. It works really well too. I was also surprised. About the same price

I use the cheap purple shark steam mop and it’s great, think I paid $40 tops. Uses pump action to dispense the steam so not much can break on it

I love my steam mop (different brand). I've had it for six years. I was interested to see how yours worked on carpet, I've never tried that.

I bet the 280f is from when it's pressed against the floor since that increases pressure and traps heat

This came at a time when I'm reconsidering a steam mop. I'd borrowed a neighbour's bissell awhile back, and its loud, high pitched noise hurt my ears so I didn't like it. But everything else was awesome. Maybe I'll just wear earplugs.
