The reason to not leave it on carpet isnt because the carpet fibers could get damaged, its because the hot steam will damage the glue that holds it to the floor. It can also leave too much water which can create mold and warp the wood under the carpet.

I returned my steam mop, because I felt that I was continually cleaning the kitchen floor with dirty pads (which I had changed during the cleaning session). I did bring home a Bissell Crosswave mop, because it cleans the floor and removes the dirty water to a separate chamber. It also has wheels that makes it easier to push. An important feature for my 70 year old frame.

But what’s it like to clean out afterward?
@chriscramer11962 жыл бұрын
@@pebbles7864 First of all, my kitchen floor hasn't been so clean in a very long time. I can no longer get on my hands and knees to clean the floor. So I have used a wet swifter type mops or an old sponge mop without great results. I still had dirty water to contend too. With the Bissell Crosswave, you can vacuum carpeted areas and move on over to the kitchen floor. [This machine is not designed to shampoo carpets, only lightly vacuum them. ] I vacuum and clean my kitchen vinyl floor at the sametime. To clean the Bissell, you need to dissemble the different parts and rinse everything. Before I pour the dirty water down the drain I insert a sink strainer to catch the debris. Then I let the parts air dry in a webbed laundry bag. This maybe a negative for some people, but you have to lug a big bucket around full of clean and dirty water, clean the mop and the bucket too. I clean the floor more often because it's easier on my back and I don't have to hire anyone to clean for me.

I have never used that particular brand but I've got experience using the X5 stream mop, the earliest versions of the Bissell, and now my Dupree whole house steamer. The floor steamers are great, just make sure to change the mop pad every couple of minutes to avoid streaks or residue. As for cleaning the mop pads, they never get truly white again, but that's ok since you're not looking at them while you're mopping the floor. I think you're really going to enjoy this little mop. I first used a steam mop about 10 years ago, and I love them. Mine were Sharks. The only issue I had with them is that if the vacuum doesn't get all the loose dirt up, the stream mop just scoots it around. So, I bought a mop that also vacuums and it is pretty good, but I have a couple of issues with it. One is that it doesn't constantly steam, and the other is that it sometimes leaves too much water on the floor. But, I like that you can only use tapwater with it and it has both a clean water tank and a dirty water tank, and it has a self cleaning roller. It also doesn't get close enough to the edges, so you still have to clean the edges some other way.
