I am a machinist and the company that I work for manufacture large irrigation pumps. We use this same method to straighten shafts to within .002" over 2 meters. However we use a hydraulic press to bend the shaft, not a hammer.

Just the pump. That is a smaller item like a 400cc engine size, but its loaded with parts, valves , tiny pump pistons, all timed precisely, and in need of someone like you to service them correctly.
