How do you beat good poker players? Also, here is why you get so unlucky in poker (it's not what you think) kzbin.info/www/bejne/npKUZqutabtmd5o

Was playing against a really good player the other day. He was completely controlling the table and winning most hands. I pretty much did this. Raised pre, then kept betting, even though I missed. He was very loose-aggressive, so most of the time he was just bullying and would fold at river.

Right. Its also a great and quick way to lose your money to a reg who slow plays you, knowing you will push back at them thinking they are being too controlling. Its not going to work in all scenarios.

I have a great strategy for good players and it has no gto involvement. When i have atleast 4 good players at the table and I plan on grinding for 8 to 10 hours. I will play like the biggest nit and fold everything but premiums for the first hour and a half to 2 hours. When you have the cards or the nuts you always show them right off the bat like you are recreational. After 2 hours of that, bluffing in position and pushing them off their hand becomes one of the easiest ways to make money on good players. This works so well bc for some reason good poker players and or pros tend to think a nit will never change their ways. Of course you will get coolered once in a while which happens, but 80 percent of the time I can make a couple thousand (1k to 3k) in 1/3 games over 8 hours or more.

I used to be jealous of those players that were better than me and took my money of the bigger tables. Now I'm one of those players 😂 I know I make players mad daily. Lol. Made $50 today on pocket aces and quit for a while. I'm tired and play better when I'm not tired. But $50 free bucks in a less than a hour of playing on the .25 cent / .50 cent blind table at wsop. Last night my aces got cracked in a tournament and I placed 12th and didn't win much. Oh well. You win some and you lose some. I'm getting really good at tournaments thought also. I am hoping to win a shot at wsop main event on the 30th I play for a free entry into next year's main event. I'm playing my best and hardest for it. I'll let you know if I win it brother. I'm praying and hoping and gonna utilize all your teachings and do my best man. I want it so bad and been studying and playing hard.

My previous strategy is to just go to the flop and see if I have a double pair, trips, and flush/straight draws. I only continue if I have good outs. Now I still do the same thing but only with the top 10 best preflop hands. It's not as exciting but it made my winnings go through the roof.

discount queens. (TAG might easily have a K here). However, A "Q" might help you bluff more successfully. As a TAG must also put you on pocket QQ or AJ. Both of these hands including strong K and a flush beats him. So: very likely, TAG would fold to a big (85%+) river bet.

Have to disagree with this strategy against the player you describe. What do we think the TAG player is calling a raise pre flop and a bet after the flop? There’s no draw, so hes not trying to suck out, which TAGs don’t do anyway. If the ten hit and you bet and he still called, hes certainly got tens beat, and my guess is hes got a king with something other than an ace, or q’s or j’s He doesn’t have QJ because he wouldn’t call the flop with that. The river is essentially a blank, so if he called the turn he’s calling the river, and he’s calling with better than ace high.

Yeah I was gonna say.. shoving with nothing on the board seems iffy here. I would've just C-Bet and tucked my tail after the check, but I'm not a great player yet
@jamesberardino5420
@jamesberardino5420 Жыл бұрын
the flush draw comes through, and he covers the nut flush out by having the ace. Therefore he's attempting to bluff him out of the put by saying he floated the back door nut flush. Opponent in this scenario likey has a king, and the call on the river is probably dependent on their stack and their kicker.
@pot_kivach160
@pot_kivach160 6 ай бұрын
not quite. 1) TAG called turn if he is holding a weak K, only. Once he faces a river shove, TAG (not a CS).would adjust his reasoning. 2) river is not a brick. Third spade together with a shove would add TAGs wondering. Enough to fold a weak K. These are only if you mix your play. If you're straight forward player, then you a) will be easily called/read, and b) will not attempt to bluff, anyway!

I understand the concept of frequencies. Although unless you are playing against the same people all the time, most of these situations will only occur once a session. So even if said opponent is paying enough attention to realize how you acted with that hand in this situation, are you ever going to be in the spot to bet 70% of the time and check 30% of the time? You may overall over a period of time, but unless it's always the same people you are playing against, it may be 100% vs 0% in their eyes. So real question is how much does this help when playing small stakes against different villains almost every time?

when a TAG arrives at the river, he most likely has a K! b/c TAG would almost never call turn with a mid pair (77-99).

Thanks for this video. It's helpful because altho can try to avoid better players, sometimes you have to play better players, especially in tournaments. What I usually do is play according to POSITION, situational nuances like table, player, game dynamics, board, opponent ranges, tendencies, opponent frequencies, my table image, lots of variables, etc. I let that help determine my play, reactions, etc. Doing those things, playing that way, often GIVES THE APPEARANCE that I am mixing up my game with different frequencies. Example, I will mix up, cbetting, and betting, checking river, etc. Others may think I am mixing up game with different frequencies, but I am really just reactively making that play because of factors, etc. A problem can happen with this approach, and that is that if the same factor, conditions comes up, then I make the same reactive play with less mixing up or less appearing to mix up game, frequencies. Another possible problem with that approach is a very good aware player that can notice, track, that I reactively play according to the above named factors, etc. Because of this I probably do need to conciously mix up my game with different frequencies occasionally vs better, good players, even when, if it goes against the best play vs a situational factor, etc. Also very good players can see thru a player who is checking 33% of time to mix up game.. If I am playing vs a player that checks 33% of time to try to mix up game, I realize that player is still BETTING A LOT, and play accordingly, so their trying to mix up their game by checking 33% of the time doesn't do any good vs me except in the very short term. And if that applies to me, it can apply to other good players, tho most players, even good players, still won't be able to see thru that as often. Also question, how do you determine when to mix up your game with different frequencies? Do you flip a coin, use a calculator, etc, to make sure your checking about 33% of the time? Also another thing that can be done vs good players, is to watch good players. Even good players have weaknesses, that can be detected, and then maybe exploited, if your able to do that. But really, the best way is to AVOID them, the very good players. Play the FIELD. the are other players at the table. If you can't play the other players in the field, can't seem to avoid them, either goto another table, or if in tournament, play less hands, etc. Thanks again for video Nathan. You have given even a profitable, experienced(17 years playing), player something to think about, maybe probably do, etc.
