I’m also on accutane, been on it for 8-9 months now and I made the mistake of not taking the tendon pain seriously enough and just kept doing my squat, bench and deadlift. And oh boy at my best pre accutane I was doing 5x 180kg (400lbs) on highbar squats and after some months of taking accutane I was warming up with pretty standard weight for me (100kg). And i felt a pop in my knee and ever since my left knee has been tender. For bench and deadlifts I was just able to keep training hard till failure with those without too many problems. But man accutane was so worth it I’m now on the final stretch 10mg a day. Ps the dry lips and nostrils are fucking killing me. Keep going at it and the accutane will definitely pay off.
@LegalMikel19 күн бұрын
I was on Accutane as well and weak joints/muscle side was bad but the worst side effect was the dry lips often my skin on my lips would legit peel off it made me disgusted but overall I guess it was worth it I never really had acne (maybe at my worst I had 2 pimples on my face) but I really wanted clear skin 😂 as acne is a turn off to some people

thanks for the subway surfers reel, that fire animation at the beginning is pretty good too😂 also could you do muscleups no band? you definitely have the strength fs. when doing muscle ups try thumb under the bar for safety reasons and pull hard asf be explosive you got that fr. You're in beautiful shape btw.

It's not that your left shoulder is "lagging" behind, it's your right back/rotator muscles that are not engaging so that your right shoulder can't stay retracted and gets pulled up. You should fix it (is not that difficult really) or you gonna develop imbalances that will hurt your right shoulder one of these days when you're benching or pressing heavy.

Are there exercises a beginner could do to work up to doing these more advanced workouts? I can't do a pull up and can't do too many push ups either. The scapular pull ups are super difficult.
@rickskellig46525 күн бұрын
Do push ups on your knees and do half a normal push up, just holding yourself up and lowering yourself to the ground. And find the point where you can lower yourself and still push yourself back up. To do pull ups, use a lat pull if you have access to a gym, if not, hang a resistance band from the bar and put one foot in it to help you up and slowly lower yourself down in the same way as the push up

Random Q but ive been on accutane for 2 months and am still doing compound lifts with no problem so am i doing something silly?
@marilynamber21 күн бұрын
ur body just might be better at handling the medication than mine is ahahah. Or u just haven’t been on it long enough yet for that side effect to set in. Tbh my tendons don’t feel horrible, I could still bench hard if i wanted to but the risk of injury is just a bit higher. It also doesn’t help that I had a massive back injury before going on accutane ahahahah
@marilynamber21 күн бұрын
also ik a lot of ppl on it that have done heavy lifting while being on accutane and the only side effect they had was just worse recovery and more soreness. U will probably be okay to keep lifting they way u like

you should probably give up on muscle ups if you are too bored to do reps above 8. You need a base of strength from conventional pull ups doing atleast 20 reps in a single set to get to the point where you have the specific strength needed to be able to do a muscle up. but theres different ways to do it. The pull back muscle up is a lot less efficient but a lto of guys can definitely do those ones no problem its just more momentum involved and you dont stick a hard isometric to rest at the top since with the shoddier form you kind of have to compensate by not staying at the top any longer than a second. The proper way to learn how to do a muscle up, you're supposed to start by learning the pull up high pull variation. It's basically 70% of a muscle up with just the dip portion skipped out on. and if you can do this lift, thats typically how you would be able to learn how to get a clean straight up and down muscle up, is to learn how to do a high pull. out of the gate something you're getting wrong with trying to swing, is while swinging definitely helps get a more straight of a pull on a muscle up, it's only a slight swing at the bottom. Very miniscule amount of swing is actually needed to straighten out the pull. The other thing you're doing wrong, is on the dip you're leaning your shoulders over the bar to an excessive degree. A lot of muscle up beginners do this, but it's just not really a good practice because the dip portion is easy and its not really the focus. The only reason the muscle up has a dip support in all actuality, is for you to have a moment to rest at the top so you can pace it a little bit better. The way you do pull ups normally as your form is pretty good there, is you just hold that position but at the hang position, you go just a little bit deeper so you can reverse from there and get the amount of swing on the way back because a controlled amount of momentum helps keep a consistent rhythm rep to rep of muscle ups. so with the straight legs with the feet together just slightly out in front of you, going down only into a kind of active hang at the bottom. dont change anything about that position because youre letting your body position completely deviate on the muscle ups in dis video. Also another thing is those bands are a trap for learning how to do muscle ups. they change the mechanics of how you do pull ups especially when its not liek an actual well adjusted setting up of the bands. so you should probably not rely on them for muscle ups, but maybe is not as bad of a thing if youre just using them to get more volume on conventional pull ups.

Hey Amber as you pointed it out yourself I’ve noticed something about your pull ups being imbalanced. Again as you mentioned the cause of problem is that your shoulders seem to be suffering from being imbalanced as well and from what I’ve noticed you seem to have a very well defined and well developed back muscles so when it comes to the pull ups you’re probably not lacking on the strength department but the thing is, even tough you seem to have excellent front deltoids and fairly big side deltoids, I feel like you’re lacking a bit on the rear deltoids which is one of the major helping muscle groups next to biceps when it comes to any pulling exercises. I also feel like your muscle imbalance on your shoulders might also be because of your underdeveloped rear deltoids. There are multiple types of exercises on how you can work your rear delts and I believe working on them might help you a great deal on pull ups. Great video though hope to see more good luck👍
@marilynamber21 күн бұрын
Thank you and yes i have noticed the same thing. Especially when Im flexing back double bicep i can see that my rear delts and biceps are not as developed as the rest of my back. I will be working on it!🫶
