You are right about catching Pompano, one fish for every thousand casts. Someone on the Panama city beach pier who was consistently catching Pompano when the other thirty anglers around him struggled, let me in on his secret. Smelly jelly. Just wipe a little on the jigs tail and its like Pompano cocaine. I use it now for speckled trout, works on them too.

There's no place selling crabs in the area now. You have to spray the crabs with salt water every few hours to clean their feces off.

During the month of March in SW Florida any major inlet will hold loads and loads of Sheepshead because they spawn in the inlets every March.

I hope the Sheepshead are still at the jetty for you. They tend to start moving out at the end of March. There will be some Pompano action still though.
