Great video, I have a question: Could you make a video and RP-English? How do I pronounce “Ritual” in RP? Thanks😊
@jailoliaj4 жыл бұрын
I don’t have an RP accent (it’s not that common in the UK these days!) but I have a fairly standard southern, middle-class accent. For my accent, it’s 2 syllables. The t in the middle is a ch sound. Like the t in Tuesday. Ri-chuwl. Someone posher than I might say it like ‘ri-chul’
@mikhaelganapolsky7554 жыл бұрын
J Ailor thank you. I just know that some words with tu pronounced like “Tyoo”. Like in Tuesday for example. Same with du: during, individual, producer... Dyoo-e-ring In-di-vi-dyoo-al Pro-dyoo-ser
@jailoliaj4 жыл бұрын
Michael Ganapolsky it’s complicated! For many British English accents, we’d say Chewsday for Tuesday. And our D sound is often almost a J- eg during juring, producer has a schwa, so it’s almost pruh-juicer But there are loads of different british accents, and some have the sounds you are thinking of.
@mikhaelganapolsky7554 жыл бұрын
J Ailor no no no. In American accent it’s doo-e-ring, not dyoo-e-ring. Pro-doo-ser. In-di-vi-joo-al
@jailoliaj4 жыл бұрын
Michael Ganapolsky I re-read your comment out loud after I posted mine. And then edited what I’d written coz when I read it in my head, I’d made different sounds.
