As a mother and functional medicine practitioner who has walked the path of food sensitivities with her own child and many patients, I knew Dr. Ashley Turner would be the perfect person to join me in this conversation! Dr. Ashley is a Board Certified Doctor of Holistic Health and traditionally-trained naturopath. She is certified in functional medicine and functional genomics which gives her the ability to specifically apply nutrition and nutraceutical recommendations based on a deep analysis of one’s personal genetic profile and other in-depth testing. Dr. Ashley is a homesteader and homeschooling mother of three girls.

For a great gluten free sourdough recipe I highly recommend the book Cannelle et Vanille Bakes Simple by Aran Goyoaga. My sister bakes it regularly and it’s gorgeous and delicious. I just had a slice this morning :).

I used Lisa's GF sourdough starter recipe using Bob Mill's 1 for 1 GF flour and was able to make GF sourdough pancakes with it. My daughter has made GF sourdough bread with the starter. We have 4 in our house with Celiac and the rest has non Celiac sensitivities. My daughter and I also have Hashimoto's and can't have dairy, even A2/A2 that our Jersey cows have. We bought some sheep and plan on milking them to see how our bodies react to their milk. We had goats before and they were really naughty and wouldn't stay in their pens, so we went with sheep 😆 They are just free range, walking around in the yard and the pasture without getting into things and being naughty like the goats were.

My Holistic Doctor, after many test, told me not to eat dairy, eggs, and gluten.🙈 Allergic to those foods. I love any advice that is natural. Loved this podcast.🤍

I'm so happy to listen to this!! I'm just recently discovering an egg and corn intolerance after doing an extreme elimination diet. I've had psoriasis basically my whole life and it was 90% healed in a matter of weeks by eliminating eggs. I can't wait to listen!!

I love the recipes in Gluten Free Bread in Five Minutes a Day. I use Bob's 1:1 instead of mixing all the flours and mix it my hand.

Great segment! One thing that rarely gets mentioned is wheat allergy rather than wheat sensitivity. Some people go into anaphylaxis from wheat. I became highly allergic after giving birth to my third son. It was so random and unexpected. I had to cut wheat all the way.

I follow you because it helps to improve my English. I love your life style but I can't use your recipes because one of my children can't have fermented foods and has to cutdown his gluten. He is not allergic but this diet helps with his health problems.

I have made a pretty good sourdough with Bob's 1:1. It does contain a mix of those ingredients (I cannot remember them all off the top of my head-) but I just wanted to mention when I made my starter I used organic brown rice flour- and then I would make the bread with the 1:1. I had tried many variations, and though it is not the cheapest, with a large family and limited time- it was the simplest! (Although there is potato, if that is an issue for some) My family actually could not quite tell it was gf.

Thank you, Lisa, for this podcast! I think our son with autism has PANS and we recently saw a video by Becky Davila on You Tube when I typed herbs for autism where she discussed three herbs for PANDAS/PANS that helped her son. We've tried those along with sedating medicine and I think it's helping. We've been on a GAPS diet minus his food allergies but I've wanted to do a food sensitivity panel but our traditional medical allergist would not do that. So I'll check out her website and books.
