I was wandering and exploring, like I often do, and I have found that between the beaver and the the onset of the rainy season we now have a sizable pond. I don't frequently walk to this part of our homestead so this has come as a surprise to me. This pond wasn't more than a third of the size last winter when I walked back there. I am really excited that they have built this because it is a really nice spot for it and I really want to encourage this type of habitat on our property.
It is also fun to go out on this little pond on a canoe even though it is hard to navigate. There are a lot of signs of beaver activity around. I am particularly impressed by how they eat the willow in a way that naturally encourages new growth, effectively farming new food for the future. I am excited to see how they live as time goes on.

I'm with you. I'm constantly amazed by what all the animal life does around here. The beaver really know what they are doing.

You have a beautiful property! We have a few beavers been released back into the wild in the uk but not many at all. So doubt i will ever see beavers near me there is no room they are building houses everywhere near me now even the farmers feilds i live near coventry.

That is so interesting to hear. That type of rolling farmscape near Coventry is my inspiration for small farming. It is sad to think of it being overtaken by houses. To be honest, a lot of the best farmland near my hometown here in the US is being covered in subdivisions too. It seems true that we humans seem to have more dollars then sense sometimes. I am excited to see how the beaver build around here though. I have already captured some footage of them on my trail camera that I will be uploading soon. Off topic. How is it to live in your neck of the woods? Between cost of living, expensive healthcare, and a bit of a train wreck in government, the US is a bit hard to live in. I'm curious about how things are in the rest of the world. Best Wishes

@@Simplegroundlife we have the NHS so health care is cheap we pay a small percentage in national insurance each month from our pay then we get round the clock health care with no extra charge dental is alittle more expensive but still not to bad, fuel is expensive but we don't have as many big trucks driving around, shopping is increasing on the regular more than most pay increases electric and gas are through the roof atm! Alot of people are using food banks and unemployment is rising pretty fast, houses and gardens as a rule are alot smaller than the us! Most houses near me are terrace or semi detached with less than quarter acre garden I'd say. I'm lucky to have an acre and detached house set in a semi rural location! Still next to 2 towns and 2 major cities we still have farm land but the biggest woods near me is harstshill Hayes Country Park you probably own more land than that is big

@realaledrinker3733 That is really interesting to hear. Thanks for laying it out so well. I guess that every place has its benefit and trouble. Change is always hard. Still I feel like it is beautiful country out your way. (I admit that I have only seen it in pictures.)
