"In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" I once asked Doug Ingle, He said not want to sound all biblical, using ("In the Garden of Eden") He changed to a slurred version of "In the garden of Life" Vida Latin for Life. That's my story and I'm sticking to it,

Hi Brad I have to say really enjoyed the tutorial on the top beginners riffs. I am 61 male and I've been learning guitar over the last 14 month . Until today I've been learning chord changes & stupid nursery rimes. I have been going to guitar teacher who wants to teach me to read music .I have learnt the 5 pentatonic scales which I know , however still don't make a lot of sense 🤔 . Today was a real turning point for me I learnt my first song 🎵 from you plus one riff .Jimmy eat the world Middle and Rolling Stones No Satisfaction . I'm asking for your advice should I jump into the jump start or should I finnish off what's on your u tube channel ? A massive well done to you 👏 and today has been my best guitar day to note . I normally play about 5 hours a week.

Hey William! The Jumpstart course is much more step by step and curated than trying to wade through nearly 200 videos here on YT. I’m so glad you’re finding success with my help!

It’s a Levy’s Hot Rod seat belt strap. They do t make it with the buckle anymore, but you can find one made from the seat belt material. I’ve had this for nearly 20 years.

Do you have any place we can ask questions that might NOT pertain to any lesson you are currently broadcasting? I have 2 questions: 1) When professional guitarists on stage often reach down & slightly adjust the VOLUME KNOB on their guitar DURING LIVE PLAYING on stage, do they have their guitar volume set to maybe MID LEVEL, to begin with (leaving the amp volume or mixer volume to give them what they want most of the time), therefore giving the guitarist the ability to adjust lowder or softer ON THE FLY? and 2nd question, 2) How do guitarists (like Prince sometimes) make that LOUD CRUNCH/SMASH DOWN sound sliding their neck hand QUICKLY DOWN THE NECK OF THE GUITAR? and seeming only hitting the strings with their pick only ONCE, MAYBE? Thanks! Sorry not on the point of your lesson.

I have a Fender Mustang GTX 100 Watt amp, and I’m wondering what setting would be best to get that Metallica Enter Sandman sound? I’m a beginner so be gentle lol.

One thing that will make a huge difference is some kind of distortion pedal to get that crunchy tone. The Boss DS 1 is a good choice and isn't expensive. That is really all you need running through a amp with mid gain settings. You can kind of adjust the mids and lows on your amp until you get the sound you want. Most settings are personal preference, if it sounds good to you then it's good.

I came across your site by chance - in 1987 I stopped being a musician and stopped playing the guitar. Now, at the beginning of the year, I got my old Strat 25-Anniversary (my God, that thing sounds like it's been around for so many years). still horny) brought out again and the passion was discovered again. You helped me out - thank you very much - by the way, I'm 67 - greetings from Vienna - Austria

On song 2, you made a mistake. You said to roll your finger from the 2nd string to the 4th string, when in fact the tabs and your finger actually went to the 3rd string.

Dude!!! Just show the riffs…..for fuck sake if your audience doesn’t know the chords then you are wasting your time. Kinda like me with this comment.

Let's be clear - playing a riff isn't the same as playing a song. In order to be a complete guitarist, you should be able to play much more of a song than just the signature riff. It's like saying "I can build a house" because you know how to hang doors, or how to install windows. They're all PART of building a house, but there is much more to it than that. But you'll get lots of praise from KZbinrs struggling with playing guitar who are searching for a quick fix, an easy path to "success" playing guitar because you "taught" them a bunch of riffs. No mention at all of the distortion effect you're using. And what about those with acoustic guitars? Do you think learning these riffs is very satisfying for them? I've been playing guitar for 50 years and teaching for almost 20 of those years. This isn't learning to play guitar, folks - it's learning riffs. Find a guitar teacher who teaches you HOW to fish, not just GIVES you a fish. In the long run, you'll be a lot better off musically. Peace!

I have over 200 videos her on KZbin. Two of those teach riffs. Riffs are fun and learning guitar should be fun so absolutely people should play riffs. And absolutely people should learn entire songs. And absolutely people should learn to write their own songs and improvise and understand music theory. I have videos covering everything on those lines, too. To assume that a single video from a channel sums up the entirety of teaching guitar is extremely short sighted. And yes, people playing acoustic guitars have fun playing these riffs, too. The distortion I use is not important. I didn’t tone match these songs. The important thing is being inspired by playing music that is fun. Most teachers have a horrible record of students quitting left and right because they forget that their students want to have fun and start playing to have fun and they shove all kinds of boring stuff at them because they don’t remember what it’s like to be a beginner anymore. I wish you the best and await to see your videos teaching things your way here on KZbin.

@@SimpleGuitarDotComgood points, but I would disagree on tone. It's important. My comment was on this video, not on you as a guitar teacher. I teach what I wish I had learned from jump street, but didn't learn until later. Then it all started to make sense.

Yeah he was pretty clear on that in his first riff vid. Its just fun to stop beginners getting bored. Quickly recognisable songs really spurs you on.
