What amazed me when I was first learning about the 1665 Black Plague of London is that some people who caught the bubonic plague did, amazingly, survive. Lancing the buboes may have helped, may have not, but it was extremely painful. Blistering poultices were also used on the buboes, causing still further suffering and pain for the patient. Pneumonic plague was much deadlier, and swift. I can’t imagine the horror of living through a plague year. The chaos and terror as people drop like flies around you, and, in the 1665 London plague, being locked up in your home with a guard outside, keeping you imprisoned as your family died helpless and trapped.
@reneehernandez82142 жыл бұрын
The descendants of those plague survivors donated blood back in the 1990’s because scientists searching for an AIDS cure thought the antibodies could be helpful. Unfortunately, I don’t know the outcome of that research.

@Lawrence_Talbot3 жыл бұрын
Well the main thing is just look itself. I mean you have a looming figure dressed head to toe in black except for what looks like a giant bird skull for a face. You can’t see the persons eyes and his voice was usually pretty muffled. This just makes seem less like there’s a person in the costume and more like it’s a walking monster or demon. Also we have a set image of doctors being dressed in white, make eye contact and usually are cordial with their patients or at most wear a face mask and some glasses when doing surgeries, so a plague doctor looks the furthest thing from what we are used to as a doctor or “healer”. Finally the biggest thing is that like the video said, they were associated with death because when the plague doctor comes that means you’re a goner since they had no way to treat the disease. Just the name alone plague doctor sounds ominous and foreboding, not to mention his methods of healing involved blood letting. A lot of people already have a fear of needles. Now imagine those same people being told the good doctor was going to take a razor blade to your wrist and drain you for a little bit

Lizzy was prescribed a high dose of morphine and was taking it during interrogation. Of course her answers didn't make sense. She was high as a kite. Also, the photographers put Andrews boots back on. It was considered "undignified" to be seen without you shoes on. They also probably repositioned his legs to do so. Does that photo look like a comfy sleeping position to you? Not that I think she was innocent, but they are interesting points to me.

True story my best friends father told me of a horrific car crash he witnessed first hand. He ran over to the car within no more than 30 seconds and to his shock there was the severed head of a woman in the back seat who’s eyes moved to his face and mouthed ‘help me’. Crazy, I believe it though.
