What you have to remember about the A7V is, it's basically just a sample serie of prototypes compared to the Mk's which have fixed some of the more immediate issues by the end of the war. The A7V is rather innovative for the era in it's own ways compared to the FT-17, these are best explained by Military History Visualized when he visits a replica in a museum. The chasse of the A7V would also see other uses as a trench excavator, munitions carrier and SPAAG. A minor error however. A7V - is powered by a 4cyl engine Simple History - Draws it as a 6cyl engine from a british tank.

The A7V was a heavy tank introduced by Germany in 1918 during World War I. One hundred chassis were ordered in early 1917, ten to be finished as fighting vehicles with armoured bodies, and the remainder as Überlandwagen cargo carriers. The number to be armoured was later increased to 20. They were used in action from March to October 1918 and were the only tanks produced by Germany in World War I to be used in combat.

I Think Mephisto the German A7V is what we of Australians had captured during WWI In April 1918, during a German attack at Villers-Bretonneux on the Western Front, A7V Mephisto became stuck in a shell-hole and was abandoned by its crew. It was recovered by Allied troops about three months later and, after the war, taken to Australia as a trophy.

@Elix1116 ай бұрын
BRO💀🙏
@albertrokosz1545 Жыл бұрын
The "female" version was not a modification of a "male" version (please note the German did not use these British terms). The only A7V which was briefly a "female" was tank 501 "Gretchen", which took part in first two A7V battles (21st March and 24th April 1918) armed with 8 MG08s. In May 1918 however, it was given a 57 mm gun instead of two MGs on the front and became a standard A7V. "Gretchen" was a "female" at the beginning because originally the Germans wanted to produce both "males" and "females", but later they decided to produce "males" only. Also, in reality the Germans used in battle A7V and captured British Mark IV tanks - only these two types. Although they did capture other types of British and French tanks, they were only tested, not used operationally. Mark IV tanks were used, because around 180 were captured during the war, many of them during the battle of Cambrai in 1917.

WWI was the true arms race. They knew they could have tanks that moved at 10 mph with a crew of 50 men because no one had anti tank capability yet.

Somewhat true. It was more of a war.of industrialization. Who could out produce the other. AT weapons came quickly and artillery could still destroy these tanks.

This reminds me of The Last Crusade, the way they filmed the inside of a tank made it look like a huge room and not a vehicle

I love how many times you animate the tanks getting stuck. 😆

Thank you for the clip. It is always interesting to see something new from you. But sadly there are a few mistakes in here: Only at the start of production some of the first 10 tanks were bruilt as female versions. When they entered service all were converted to male tanks (with guns in the front). The second batch of the next 10 tanks were all produced as male versions from the start. So there was no female tank that ever was used in action. Some addition: The idea of the motor being located in the middle of the tank was a standard concept of all nations that produced tanks, with the British Whippet and the French FT-17 being the first vehicles with separted motor compartments. The idea behind that concept was simple: The motors were often unreliable and overheated easily. So it was important to being able to work on them in the safety of the tank, rather than being forced to leave the tank and repair the motors in the open. Another mistake: The A7Vs were not equipped with Maxim MGs but with mashineguns of the type MG 08 (a German design that based on the Maxim). Last correction: The A7V was never redrew from the front. The tanks were kept in activ service until the end of the war, together with a great number of captured British tanks of the type Mark IV. Thought there were no big operations as Villers-Bretonneux anymore (which also had to do with the devensive role that the German Army had at the end of the war). Sorry that I have added so much corrections. I really hope that you keep up your great work. Cheers!

Another informative and gripping episode. I also liked the face reveal in the paid promotion part of the video.

Mephisto was stored outside, down the road from where we lived at the local museum. We used to climb all over it. It was basically a box with tracks under it.
