Whilst WD40 works short term as a lubricant it is not a lubricant. It is a cleaner as degreaser so when you use it it removes dirt build up snd old grease so it seems to be lubricated but its not, it is just clean. So use WD40 first and later when evaporated and dry use silicone spray which is a lubricant.

Take the nozzle off, place an automotive valve stem over the tube protruding from the top of the can and while holding it tightly use the air chuck on an air compressor to inject air into the can to pressurize it. Now it will spray again.

WD-40 is essentially an oil diluted with a mineral spirit and something to make it smell nice (which for some people, it doesn't). Use a clean engine oil, a neutral spirit and for instance, a lemon essence or any other pleasant smell of your choice, put it in a spray bottle and you're good to go. Personally, for the garage and workshop I do it with used engine or transmission oil with Varsol or thinner and don't bother with the smell. Super handy and cheap. Always keep clean rags around.

Once the dirt and grime has been removed from the lathe ways, WD40 + automatic transmission fluid in a spray bottle will put an atomized layer of oil to prevent rust. Both fluids dispel water but the WD-40 evaporates leaving a thin film of ATF. Without the WD-40 the ATF does not spread. Later that ATF can be wiped clean for your next machine shop job. No rust!
@toysoldier46552
@toysoldier46552 13 күн бұрын

WD-40 was originally created for NASA to prevent rust and corrosion on electronic parts of the Atlas missile and other spacecraft, not as a lubricant; however, WD40 can act as a lubricant but only for a short time. Best to use a lubricant designed for use as a lubricant, not WD40. In 1953, chemist Norman B. Larsen and his team at the Rocket Chemical Company in San Diego, California created WD40.

Here are some other things about WD40 that you may find interesting or useful. Why is it called WD40? Because the WD stands for Water Dispersant and it took the company 40 attempts to get the product correct. If you want to claim the insurance and write your vehicle off, simply spray the underside of an engine with a can of WD40 and after driving for 15 to 20 minutes you'll find the engine bay will go up in flames but be careful because you'll find that to get out of the vehicle injury free is second to 1 minute. WD40 coming into contact with your skin can and will if repeat abuse off the substance will result in cell mission in your body and lead to death.

Tip 14 - removing chewing gum from carpet - may remove the gum, but the WD-40 will stain the carpet.

Remove oil and dirt from your engine cases on motorcycles when cool Remove minor overspray of paint if it hasn’t dried let’s say over night Don’t use it on items in house Unless you like smell of WD40 in morning

There are other cheaper products that will do the same as WD40. Personally, I use white gas, commonly labeled as camp fuel.

White gas is and always has been, Kerosene!

Yes, it has many names. I buy it labeled camp fuel, white gas, Kerosene, etc, but it is a lot cheaper than using WD40, which is more of a lubrication fluid, for helping to remove rusted bolts and nuts. I use white gas every day to remove labels attached to Amazon products.

You can also spray it in a frying pan to cook with but you best not eat the ice cream.

Not great as a lubricant or even a penetrant. It works initially as a lubricant but doesn't last very long. There are much better products out there for that. Good for removing sticker residue though.

*#8* just looks like a dry erase board. If so, wiping it with your FINGER is all that's needed, but if *#19* works w/o the toothpaste, so will the *#8* "fix". *#13* Using it on HEADLIGHTS works for less than 24 hours, or till the next rain. Still blurry though. *26 & 28* are basically the same, i.e. scissors & pliers/tools. *#20* NOT! Well maybe till you can count to 10Mississippi. Yeah, kind of like a HEADLIGHT "fix".
