The real fix is to not use the wrench to tighten the collet. Finger tighten on, finger tighten off, just like an angle grinder.

@byronmoscoso2213 The tool spins in the opposite direction. It actually gets tighter every time you pull the trigger, maybe you aren't cut out for this.

@emort6

@wethobgoblin2740 I'm not saying that I have ultra strong fingers, the rotation of the tool is counter to the tightening of the collet. The second that the grinding wheel or cut off disc hits your work surface it is actually getting tighter, this is by design. I used the wrench the first couple times until I realized how the tool works, that was years ago.

I use the same rotary tool. I'm definitely going to swap this out now! I hate the collet on the m12. The little teeth always get shifted out of place too. Have to smack the bit down inorder for the teeth to release.

Right on. So far after swapping out several times I've found it to be incredibly smooth and works flawlessly. Cheers 👍

After commenting on one of these videos about what a pain it was to change the sanding drums.Alovely man got back to me about this. He actually asked me if I had a weird looking drum in my kit. This was a shared tool between me and my dad who has since passed away. He helped me distinguish what I was looking for. I had about 3 different ones and I just ignoring them. I had two sanding Quick Change drums plus one gor a cutting wheel. I have had such a nice experiences on KZbin with gentleman like this explaining something to me in a way that I could figure it out. So thank you to all the strangers out there. Who have given me a break , and helped. My dad always bought the latest tools and I should have known better😅

Dremel also make a collar that replaces the black collar just below the bit that has the wrench built in, and because it's the same size you can use all the Dremel accessories like the 90 degree offset

I used to have the rotary tool & sold it. No matter what collet I used it always came loose from the vibration of using the tool. I could tighten it as much as possible & it still happened. I love Milwaukee tools but this one I definitely prefer my dremel.

The Dremel keyless chucks still require using a small wrench or vide grips to undo sometimes because the vibrations of using the rotary tool cause the chuck teeth to move closer and closer until they bind and then you’re in the same boat as before. I tried switching but found the same issue. It doesn’t matter how gentle you are snugging the keyless chuck up it will still (with continuous use) bind and require tools to take the mandrel/tool out of the chuck. Keep your money and stick with what’s provided until it wears out and needs replacing then go town with whichever option you like, just know that you were warned.

Bought and tried the Dremel head and wasn’t too impressed, I’d rather just stick to the original collet as I personally found it to have a better hold on bits for my use. Just my preference tho, still a killer M12 tool 💥

I had that chuck, but I chucked it. It slips. The collet is the perfect fit and provides more surface friction. They haven't implemented a better system yet. All they have to do is make the shank triangular, then the keyless chuck would have a superior grip.

Its good they didn't try to use so.e proprietary size. It will have the same problem with grip as any drill with a keyless chuck. Mine has worked well for years other than slipping when abused though

I’m not a fan of those keyless chucks. I find they loosen up unless you use a wrench on them. A better option, in my opinion, is the replace the removable nosecone piece, the black plastic piece under the collet. And replace it with a dremel one that has a built in wrench in it. You unscrew it and use it to loosen the collet. I hope what I’m saying makes sense lol

My tool doesn't engage until it's on 2.5 speed. When I try use it at 1 it just buzzes & doesn't rotate it's not very old & i've not used it much. Mostly as it only works for about 20seconds then all 4 lights will flash & I need to wait a few mins :/ it's annoying & a headache more then anything!
