I came down with insulin dependent diabetes so can no longer have a CDL. If I could I'd buy one and live in it for sure. Much better than any stupid RV. I'd hook up motion sensor lights to come on outside Automatically. Something to discourage meth heads and thief's from getting too close. We all know that truck stops are surrounded with those people.

John Ryan they are not going to regular distribution centers in town ,most of them chasing the lightweight stuf or on piece so they can permit them depending on what trailor they pull 99%can not pul just any trailor,and haul regular freight,empty weight is between 40-50 thousand,depends on size sleeper,what trailor and the extras car or moter bike some of those setups cost depending between 300-400 grand plus ,,,when you think a 2000 payment is big don’t ask those guys anywhere between 4-6 grand depending on how big the check was when they drive away whit it,,,,they talk about the truck all the good things,,one thing they hartly talk about is,you limited on freight they all have special contracts,to haul lightweight freight,they make miles on the clock 1 buck more then average owner operator clock miles and computer miles is 10-12% difference,,and the last thing is,,,,,,,when you looking for one there is a shitload of them for sale used,WHY WOULD THAT BE LOW MILES TO..........

@@winuscleyne890 I was wondering about that. Definitely too much weight and length for me. I personally dont go above 220 or 230 inches. And then your still hassling yourself by needing your own trailer with a spread axle and knowing how exactly to communicate with loaders to make the weights correct. Just too much goes into specin one out. Sure I'd you got the money and patience but they way freight been up an down. Now isnt the ideal time Especially if ole sleepy jo biden is president next year.

We started our careers in tank division, back in our company driving days!! When we pulled step deck, we were 34K in weight with full fuel and water tanks, so there is a lot you can haul. Most, but not all, big bunks work in specialized hauling: government, pharmaceuticals, aviation, household goods or trade shows, car hauling, to name some. You just have to see what’s right for you. We love being on the road together. I was out of the truck for 6 weeks once and my husband was ready to quit being out himself. It takes patience & time, but we wouldn’t change it for the world.

Nice rig for sure . How about financing something like this ? How is the insurance ? I’m guessing being longer hard to park and unload?
@lizhartel3740
@lizhartel3740 2 жыл бұрын
Financing all depends on a person's commercial credit. There are a few more hoops to jump thru than if you're purchasing a car, but it can be done. Insurance was fair, however, carrying specialized loads, our insurance is a bit spendy to cover said loads. Parking isn't too bad, some places you have to get a bit creative mostly so you don't get blocked in. We do not dock for loads, we pull a step deck and are loaded and unloaded by forklift or crane. Backing is not any harder than backing any semi, at least not for me. Hope this answers your questions

Nice truck! Can bigger fresh and black water tanks be added? Could stuff be operated using deep cycle batteries until the batteries run down then charged up with the generator? How much does the truck weigh? I’m not interested in becoming an owner operator. I’m an amateur radio operator and looking for a retirement vehicle! Can bigger fuel tanks be installed? I’m curious about your fuel mileage. I want to drive around 68 MPH. What are the rear gear radios of the drive axles? Do you use synthetic oils? How often will you have the oil changed? Will you be using an oil bypass filter? Thank You for your time!!
@lizhartel3740
@lizhartel3740 4 жыл бұрын
Kris Kkallinn Thank you. I will answer your questions to the best of my abilities since my husband is not available for help at this time. For the fresh water, I know of a few people that have added tanks on their trailers for extra capacity. Without a trailer with you, I am not sure if larger or extras could be added. The black water is a cassette, with one size tank. Most of us carry 2 or 3 tanks just Incase you can not find a station for waste. Batteries: most of the unit can run off the batteries, however the cooktop, microwave and a/c unit need generator or shore power. Weight: fully fueled, water, food and personal stuff around 34000 pounds. I know that fuel tanks can be swapped out on semi trucks and if you did not have step boxes behind them like we added, it’s a possibility. Fuel mileage will all depend on load weight, empty and speed. We can range from 5-8 mpg. I believe, but this one is not up my alley for knowledge, that the gears are 318’s? Yes, we run synthetic oil change around 30-35K miles and use a bypass system. I hope this helps, to the best of my abilities.

I own a 2016 KW T680 and can put 41k to 42k in the fridge depending on what trailer I have at the time. I can't see doing this with a truck like yours. What kind of freight are you hauling for your dedicated contract? I'm assuming its not much over 25k in weight?

Where and how do you dispose of the contents of black water tank and how do you refill with fresh water?
@lizhartel3740
@lizhartel3740 4 жыл бұрын
Many rest stops have RV dump sites as well as many truck stops. As for water refill, usually at fuel islands you can find water available so long as you have your own hose. Also the RV dump stations have them. There may be some folks out there who would drink or cook with this water, however we choose to carry our own spring water from home for these uses. The water we put into the 2-40 gallons tanks are for dishes and showers.

Specialized freight. Many big bunks run in government, household goods, enclosed car hauling, aviation, trade shows, just to name a few. Maintance is no more than a standard truck really. Heck, we even pay the same for a wash. When you consider how long we stay out on the road at a time, cooking and eating our own food, not paying for showers and far less down time really adds up in our pockets. Balance in check!
@kymmicakez6316
@kymmicakez6316 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely I had know idea about government nor enclosed cars. I just know weight wise it would mean certain restrictions on loads? Am I correct? Also I never pay for showers with fuel card points on road lol.
@lizhartel3740
@lizhartel3740 3 жыл бұрын
@@kymmicakez6316 weight of course needs to be paid attention to, but I have been over weight more times in a standard size bunk then in a big bunk. We pay close attention to what we load, where we place our load and weigh when needed. Yes, you can shower for free with a fuel card, but think of the down time and if you are waiting for a shower, that’s even more time wasted. And, once you have your own shower, you think twice about how clean truck stop showers are. Since we are a team, I can make meals going done the road. That saves time and money and most importantly our health.

At most truck stops. On the fuel island, several truck stops also have water spouts. We carry a garden hose to hook up and fill. Oh, and there is no cost! Truck with a 53’ trailer was 83’ long. Not once have we had an issue with length. This unit is about midsize for what they build and I have not heard of any others having issues either. Trust me, we get pulled into weigh stations a lot more often with these big rigs but it’s a standing laugh that we do so because they just want to see the rig up close. I have had officers step out of the building to do just that. But not for any negative reasons. 😊

This model is mostly how ARI builds them. We added a few changes, but due to time, which we did not have much of, we could not change much. As for your insurance question, I really couldn't put a percentage on it. We had a 2018 Peterbilt 579 with an 80 inch bunk prior that we were paying insurance on at approximately $400/month less. This amount also reflects what we haul , with specialized freight, we do pay higher so keep that in mind. Sorry I do not have a better answer for that.
