We take our first salmon fishing trip of the year to the beautiful town of Seward, Alaska. The fish were plentiful, leaving us time to check out the boat harbor and Bear Creek Weir before our drive home.
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀

My husband Josh Bergman met Eric and Ariel on their first day snag fishing it Seward. He's not a commenter so I will do it for him. Thanks to Ariel for taking a picture with him and to Bo and Bandit for posing. Josh didn't get to take a picture with Eric, but he said he was very friendly. That day was Josh's 42nd birthday and meeting you both was truly a highlight. We watch simple living Alaska all the time and your channel was a big reason we came up here for our 2022 summer vacation. My favorite thing every time you fish is Arielle saying, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry fish," as she dispatches her catch. That would be SO ME! It just shows her respect for the life, while knowing the life of her catches will provide life and nourishment for them. I love it. That last one was such a fighter, but I was so afraid it would get away, only to die due to partial damage. Good job Arielle. I worried, though, for both of you that you'd snag yourselves on those huge treble hooks while your fish flopped around and you tried grabbing them. I flinched every time. Your fishing escapades and gardening are my favorite videos. And as much as I'm not into hunting, and despise sport hunting, I don't mind your hunting trips because it's for sustainance and you show great care and respect while always using all parts of the animal. I really look forward to your next moose hunt. When might that be?

The only thing I have a problem with is snag fishing. Seems unnecessary cruel and damaging, especially to the fish that gets off the hooks.

Hey you guys... I know this is absolutely off topic but I need to share this with you. I have ZERO explanation why I think about this on a semi regular basis but to this day I absolutely CRINGE when I think about that root cellar debacle!!!! That post you guys put up sharing the fact after all that work and $$$ that you had no alternative but to fill in the hole!!!?? I'm by no means a touchy feely man but all I wanted to do was give you two the biggest hug and try amd say something to make it better!!!! Which would have been futile I readily admit!!! Holy cow that was a heartbreaker!!! I've lived in Alaska and fully understand the effort it takes to thrive in that environment. And taking steps backwards always sucks out loud!!! You two handled that with such grace and poise. I promise you that wouldn't have been said for me if I had been in your shoes!!! Continued blessings as well wishes on all you guys endeavor to accomplish. You two are learning something many people never learn in a lifetime. It's not about what one has are doesn't have... Life's treasure is found in the process. It's not the road traveled its the traveling itself. You guys understand that... Blessing from Montana...

I saw some people the other day snagging them. It was like ever cast they got hooked up. They got there limits in 30 min. It was not that crowded.

If lines are breaking for rubbing against rock, try monofilament, it's supposed to be more abrasion resistant.

The weather was great for fishing. Really liked the enthusiasm the both of you showed each time you landed a Sockeye Salmon. Watching the enjoyment you each were having made me wish I was there fishing too!!

I was there Friday. I only caught 2! But they were big ones(compared to the ones others were catching.)But that 1st fresh salmon was worth the trip.

I think everybody watching this video has it in the back of their minds what a blessing it must be to harvest SEVERAL hundred dollars worth of fresh salmon meat in only a few hours...

@@hxhdfjifzirstc894 yeah, when I do the math on cost of gas for me to travel several hours for fishing... I definitely add that in. Salmon price+fun=worth it.

The amount of salmons in this creek is incredible ! Can I ask why you have to cut their gills when you catch them ? Thanks a lot for your videos, I watched them all and I love them !

It bleeds the fish out to make it easier to fillet later on. It’s also a way to kill the fish. Two birds with one stone kinda thing.

I just saw a video on KZbin about powdering tomatoes and thought of you. The video I watched was from Jill Winger. Good way to save space with storage of tomatoes and other vegetables.. Love your videos! I wish there were more. and that they were longer.
