Thank you @Simple Man Podcast for the shout out! Nicky certainly has powerful hips. Did I say he can’t sprawl? 😂😂 I mean, he does sort of dig into the mat with his feet, which puts on the “breaks,” and that doesn’t help. But he certainly has improved tremendously with his ability to dig the underhook to slow it down. I believe he will continue improve if he learns from Jay and Nicky Rod. Jay has a very classic sprawl with shoe laces down. I’d love to work with those guys, as they have that champion mindset and seem to really enjoy the grind. As a coach, there’s not much more you could ever ask for in an athlete. I am old-competed heavily from 1991-2001. And then some here and there afterwards. My channel is new, but I’ve been in the sport for 32 years and known by the old man crowd from back in my day. 😂. My hope is to reach some of the young guys and help them to improve their performance in competition. I truly like coaching wrestling to BJJ guys, as they learn quickly and trust the systems. Joe Breza is legit. I wrestled with Breza in high school and can tell you he knows technique in and out. After high school he wrestled D1 at Sacred Heart and trained with the best. He’s a freaking neuroscientist so yeah, he gets in depth. Stud.

That guy mentioned with the wrestling channel and breakdowns was one of my high school wrestling coaches. Not that my comment warrants any attention, but I was a high school folkstyle state champ in Florida with several state championships in freestyle and Greco. Joe Breza even helped me wrestle in college. I’d say he knows what he’s talking about. Coach Breza was, and is, a high level wrestler. He wrestled division 1 under Andy Seras (head coach of the Olympic and world team). I have worked with a good number of coaches throughout the years, and Coach Breza is by far one of the most technical - if not the most technical. He helped me win a few of my state championships. He was even a freestyle champ in his own right. Couldn’t have done any of it without his help along the way. He also shreds a mean guitar, but that’s a conversation for a different day lol. I’d recommend for anyone to check out his wrestling channel!

I honestly feel like Nicky Rod should talk more instead of having the rest of the team talk for him. I don't mean that in a bad way. If he's genuinely natty, talk about it and how everyone else isn't instead of saying it once and never bringing it up again except in captions on posts. If he's really not greasing, talk about it and call out these guys for falsely accusing you. Dude, you're one of the best BJJ guys on the planet, you should talk your shit since you can back it up

Tbh I kind of feel like what is the point? Unless he is going to post blood test or urine test results and has somehow filmed himself for the hours before the alleged greasing incidents, I don’t think his denying the accusations means much. If he came out and denied all that, the other side is just going to go “I don’t believe you” and nothing is resolved. Plus Gordon thrives on shit talk. I honestly I think the best way to deal with him is just ignore him and when it comes time to roll, treat it like the job it is. At the end of the day, though, this is why the sport needs a better centralized governing body. It’s kind of the wild, Wild West in terms of what athletes can get away with. Especially compared to literally every other combat sport. Whether or not someone was natty or greasing would be less of a contentious point with better oversight. Although, as a general rule, I think pretty much everyone is juicing at the highest level. I’m less convinced about greasing. It’s a distinct possibility, but I’ve wrestled with some guys that sweat biblical floods out. Even more so when matches are really long. I won’t be surprised if there was foul play, but I could just as easily see it as just a ton of sweat idk.
