I just used this technique on a man's sweater neckline. Hung the neckline stitches, made the ribbing & followed your directions. Turned out beautifully! A little time consuming with standard stitches, but this project was worth it. Thank you!

Thanks! I think Kitchener is grafting, though, and this is a ribbing bind-off that duplicates the machine cast-on. It's especially useful because it's stretchy and pretty.

I would take it off on circular waste knitting and do smiles and frowns. I believe it works fine on 2x1, although I haven't done it in a few yeaers.

I have done a 2 x 1 ribbing, does this technique still work? I will have a longer stitch across the two knits?

I have no tried it - probably would work. I've done it the conventionl way with circular waste yarn with 2x2 ribbing and it was fine.
