Simplex 2001-8032 Panel Demo

Demo of a single bay-8 card 2001-8032 repackaged panel at an apartment complex. All original componets of the system remain with exception to the outdoor pulls and signals.

I like the annunciator with the old 1969-1978 Simplex logo on top. Some buildings at my college originally had them when they were built in 1978 (they're gone now.) Seeing those weatherproof Wheelock AS horn/strobes with the Simplex-branded Sigcom pulls reminds me of the parking garage at our city bus terminal; they have a Simplex 4005 system from 1999. Those devices were obviously installed way before Simplex began making their own weatherproof horn/strobes. Inside the bus terminal they have 4903-9236 horn/strobes and 2099-9756 pulls with Stopper covers.

BTW, what are the interior fire alarm signals? I'm guessing they could be 2903-series alarms, or maybe even 4050-80s if it's an earlier 2001 system.

SAFETECH, why did the panel beep when you pulled the fuses out? And, why did the fire alarms sound when you pushed the fuses in?

I can answer this. The fuses are on the alarm circuit so that if something shorts out, the panel doesn't fry. When he pulled them, the panel detected that the wiring to the alarms wasn't connected somewhere and beeped because it detected trouble. Then, he pulled the alarm, but since the fuses were out, the power could not reach the alarms. When he pushed them back in, the alarms got power and sounded like they should've been.

Actually it's more common than you think Simplex buys other people's equipment depending on the installers and the company they work for If you look at Weatherdan's University of Albany fire alarm videos The University has Simplex systems with the pulls, annunciators, and panels being Simplex equipment but all the notification appliances horns, bells, speaker strobes etc are all Wheelock alarms. There are other videos with them setup like that as well look around.

Simplex used to use lots of weatherproof Wheelock alarms. Nowadays I think they just use their weatherproof speaker/strobes (ET70WP), as Simplex now makes their own line of weatherproof TrueAlert horn/strobes and remote strobes.
