Looks like a Piezo Electric Loudspeaker stamped LX21 and 26021 from the early 1930s, but it's not.
Thanks to Scott's reply below & others to my earlier video.
It's not a piezo, it's a moving iron electrodynamic. The package at the back has two soft iron horseshoe magnets which create the magnetic field for the motor. There will be a coil of wire wrapped around a springy, soft iron armature, and this moves when audio is fed into the speaker from the output tube. This coil is connected between the power supply (the + terminal on the speaker) and the plate of the output tube (the P terminal on the speaker). There is no output transformer. The levers you refer to magnify the small movements of the armature to more efficiently drive the cone.
In addition, check out my earlier video and others where I introduce the Simplex, model PB mini-cathedral dual-band receiver I acquired about nine years back that's been in storage. The seller at the time told me the radio was from a family in the Charleston, SC area; other than that, I don't have any other information on the history of the receiver with the exception of the Simplex factory was located in Philadelphia, PA then later moved to Sandusky, OH where the company was purchased by Philco and the plant was closed shortly after.

I knew you could repair this speaker as per your previous video, a lot easier to do than an actual voice coil type. Don, I think you just sharpened your scissors by cutting the Scotch-Brite pad.

Don, I came back to this video as I have a couple of speakers that will need patching or reconing. Just refer me to your other videos if necessary ... Where does one get the surround? What material did you use for making the cone? If the surround is not affected should one replace it anyway or just replace the cone?
@RestoreOldRadios
@RestoreOldRadios 4 ай бұрын
I bought some 6” cones off eBay years ago and and cut the foam surround out and have used them in addition to a few other surrounds I bought off eBay and from Amazon. The Speaker Exchange is another resource as well that I have used at: reconingspeakers.com Check my video and the video description for the cone material that I’ve used at: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ep6lnZynedyHr7ssi=w4lOTQVKFo2AL81E Regarding the surround, I try to reuse the original surround when possible, but the majority of the old speakers I’ve encountered are severely degraded, so it really depends. Hope this helps. Best, Don

@@RestoreOldRadios Thank you for the reply and the link to the theory of operation. That design is a little weird and more complicated than other speaker designs but at least now I understand it better. If I ever run into one, I will be better equipped. The next radio on my bench will be a Zenith G511 that belonged to my wife's great-grandmother. Because of the sentimental connection, there is a little more motivation to get it repaired and restored. Thank you for all your helpful videos. Luther
