I have both the Simplicity and Butterick pattern. I just made the Butterick pattern. It turned out beautifully. I just have to hem it. The fit was perfect! I love all three of your dresses and can’t wait to make mine. Thanks for the review of the pattern! 👗🧵🪡🥰

My pleasure Gwendolyn😊 It's an alteration that I have to make often, and I know some folks purchase both size ranges of the patterns if they are between sizes, but I usually just grade out on the pattern pieces after fitting my bodice. I am so happy you found it helpful!

They are all gorgeous but the Ankara fabric is stunning 😍
@TIMAbyFK2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Annette, my mom gifted me that green ankara fabric from her trip to. Guinea that summer, and I was smitten when I got it! Now I may have skipped pre-washing in my excitement to cut out this pattern and washed the dress before wearing it instead, and wouldn't you know it rose up about 2 inches and FITS like a glove (maybe a little too well) lol

Thanks for subscribing Jen! I really enjoy having you with us. Which part of Australia are you in? I had the pleasure of visiting back in 2014 when my sister was there for a year doing culinary work. We went to Sydney and Queensland and I LOVED it! Welcome welcome, and thank you so much for your message!

Beautiful makes. This is one of my favorite patterns. I have made it twice in viscose without the flounce, about midi length, with long sleeves, size 14. Figure flattering. I lined the bodice with cotton lawn. Will now consider another with the flounce and flutter sleeve for summer! Thank you so much for your review.

How beautiful those dresses are! You chose very flattering colors (the one you're wearing and the green are especially nice) and a terrific silhouette for your figure (while my measurements are much larger than yours, the proportions are the same and this dress is a recommended style for that body shape). Our skin tones couldn't be much further apart, but we sure share a design aesthetic and body type. I can't wait to make it for myself. So happy to have found your channel. Thank you.

Beautiful dresses! I really love how you look in them and I especially love how you model them! Very fun and flirty! The closest style of dress that looks like these that I've made is the Giselle Dress, which actually isn't very similar but the closest, so I may try this one out! I actually have the Butterick pattern that you use at times that you mentioned liking the bodice so maybe I'll make that first. Thank you for the review and for the mention! 😃 Love the photos! 🥰🤩

Yes, I really like the Butterick one too! I think the fit is great, and I so appreciate your kind words! I know there will be more of these dresses in my future!

One more thing: I forgot to mention Rayon and viscose are very similar substrates. Both are made from plant-based cellulose (read: sustainable).

Love your videos! You mentioned adding a waist seam in the yellow dress. How do you do that? Is there a video showing how? Thx S.
@TIMAbyFK2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sonya, my apologies forthis delayed response! Yes, I made a video about the making of my yellow dress where I hacked the waistline: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIK2k32OqdJ_eLc I explain it a bit in the cutting the fabric section of the video. But I basically extended a strait line out using the waistline seam on the pattern and added 5/8" seam allowance so that I can add the circle skirt to it. I hope the video helps explain it and visually show what I did.

Lovely dresses! I like the one you're wearing in the video best of all. Have you ever considered adding a built-in "triangle" (for lack of a better word) piece of fabric to the open v-neck so that you don't have to wear something under? It could be in a coordinating fabric. Not sure if that made sense. Just a suggestion 😊 Loved your review and now I feel I need to make one of these for myself!! Thank you
@jazmeen042 жыл бұрын
She is probably just wearing it for the camera, she probably doesn't wear something under when she is home.
@TIMAbyFK2 жыл бұрын
Hi Angela, I have not tried that yet, but has been a consideration, especially for something with a zipper in the back like this dress. It's a good idea because I would never plan to wear the dress without an underpinning. I think my hold up has been that I may actually try that because a few times, I have wanted to wear something with a V neck I hesitate, if I cannot find the coordinating undershirt I wanted or it's not ironed etc, but if they were attached I wouldn't have that problem. Thanks for that suggestion!
@TIMAbyFK2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, yes, I often wear something under V necks, for my personal comfort and modesty. Not so much if I'm just at home like you mentioned.

Hey Soror! I love your 3 dresses...they are absolutely gorgeous. Is the yellow dress lined in cotton? I love ❤ your style and pattern choices. Great job and Happy Sewing!
@TIMAbyFK2 жыл бұрын
HI Soror! Thank you for your message & you patience with my response! To be honest, I don't know what the lining fabric is, it has one side that is shiny and slick and the other that is matte and feels "cotton-like". I put the cotton like side to face my skin, and had the shiny, silky side against the cotton to reduce the cotton-on-cotton sticking that can sometimes happen. I share more about it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIK2k32OqdJ_eLc

Thank you so much for doing this pattern review! I'm just getting ready to cut and hearing your experience (and enthusiasm for the pattern!) is very helpful. I'm curious--have you used the View D one-piece front? I'm considering lengthening it and adding godets for swing. Again--Thank you!
@TIMAbyFK2 жыл бұрын
Hi Carrie! Wohoooo, I am so excited you're getting started with S8875. I do love this pattern, though in all of my adaptations, I have not made the skirt in view D. Here is a review from @Gingerhead & Co about view D: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHvVk5mEiL-CicU I hope you love it as much as we did! I think adding the godets would make it so swooshy!

I really enjoy all your videos! Thanks for sharing. I also love your head scarfs, do you make those or do you purchase them? If you purchase do you mind sharing where? I would love to buy some.
@TIMAbyFK2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you so much! My scarves are a collection from so many places, there is a Somali Mall in Virginia (3538 CARLIN SPRING RD FALLS CHURCH VA 22041 and 3536 Carlin Springs Rd #8 North, Bailey's Crossroads, VA 22041) not too far from me and a couple years ago I went and bought a whole bunch there. They have individual retailers that are wonderful. I otherwise, have been gifted, or find scarves at Marshall, Burlington, or TJ MAxx. They would be easy enough to make though, now that I am sewing more, most of my scarves were purchased before i had a steady sewing practice. But there are a lot of online shops to purchase them from as well: a-sumayahshop.com/password veiledcollection.com/collections/hijabs vela-scarves.myshopify.com/collections/jersey-modal Happy shopping if you choose to buy!

Hi Faye, I got this beautiful rayon challis from G Street Fabric, unfortunately, it was a sale item and I don't believe they still carry it (I purchased it in store), but here is their site for other goodies: www.gstreetfabrics.com
