Hello @Jake Marvin Villegas. At around 1:16 of your video you indicate the direction or rotation. I cannot understand why you are highlighting this? How does this effect the windings?

Will this pattern work on all small armature or just the one you doing.

Nice videos. Question, how do you undo the hooks from the commutator hook bars so the wires can be removed? Do you apply heat and pry open? I noticed it's hard for micro flat heads to fit. What temp is good? I want to rewire a 3p DC 480 motor but am afraid to break the commutator. Not sure where to find a replacement.
@JakeMarvinVillegas3 жыл бұрын
yes you are absolutely right sir, you need to heat it up so the epoxy will be brittle and would easy to remove. just use enough heat that will not burn the wires. then you can pry them one by one

Great videi. Thanks. From two slots 1 and 6 only 3 wires are connected to 1. 2. and 3 segment of commutator. In this way from 12 slots only 18 wires are availane. But segments are 24. How remaining 6 segments are connected.

Hi, I'm needing to rewind a 12vdc high torque motor armature. It has 16 seg and 16 slots. I plan to use 600 grit sandpaper, 20 gauge magnetic wire. That is same size wire that it had. This motor runs a mobility lift up and down through a gearbox. I know the turns is 6. I did not identify the direction or connection sequence. Currently have bare armature. Help
@JakeMarvinVillegas7 ай бұрын
Good day sir there is no need to worry about the direction of the connection as you can switch the positive and negative to reverse the spin. However the connection sequence is important if you did not take note of it before disassembly you need to estimate the contact point of the commutator and the magnetic field. It should be so that when the commutator is in contact with the electricity, the coils connected to it should be the ones in line with the magnetic field so that it will spin.

@@JakeMarvinVillegas thank you for the motivation. The motor case has tabs to be sure the commutator is applying force for N to S pull. I'm not sure of the 16 seg 16 pole, if I need two runs or just a single wave coil. I think I divide up the 16 poles so the the windings make the widest magnetic field and each winding is attached to commutator centered above on each side. I'm failing to understand two runs. I think it is in my mind right, but concerned

Hi Jake, I watched a video by American Tech on rewinding a 12 volt motor. I followed his pattern and have completed my armature. Tomorrow , I'll get it together to see if it will run correctly. Thank you very much for your guidance. Have a merry Christmas and Happy New Year sir

Winding without commutator. No. of make it one only for demo. We want to know total how wires coming out of slots. Pl. Tag with numbers. It should be 24 to match commutator segments. We are confused it is 18 terminals or 24 terminals. Pl. Make it elabotate for demo purpose only.
Please describe the diagram.Then describe the winding please.

Hello shoena conde, you can use a micrometer, vernier caliper or a wire gauge to measure what wire to use in your armature. Because in this vid I used a cotton string for demonstration.

Hello and thank you very much for the information. I am trying to learn how to map an old commutator so that I know how to rewind it. I can't find a way to be able to easily map the windings of an old commutator. There's no way I can do a rewind if I don't understand what the original windings are. Can you help me with this? Thank you very much.

12 slot 24 slot commutatato 2 layer lap winding. If I wind each coil 16 + 15 coil with 3 output teimnals. Connect 123. 345. 567. 789... For this how many coils I have make. How to insert in armature slots.
@JakeMarvinVillegas3 жыл бұрын
By 16 + 15 sir you mean turns right? if so, put the 16 and 15 turns on the same slot, it would be two coils per slot with commutator segments 3 in total. Commutator segments 1-2 ---- 16 turns of wires slot 1 of armature 2-3 ---- 15 turns of wires slot 1 again of the armature 3-4 ---- 16 turns of wires slot 2 of armature 4-5 ---- 15 turns of wires slot 2 again of armature and so on. Just make adjustments of the number of turns if the wires dont fit in the slots.

Nothing is simplified in ur videos(1 and 2) u r only talking to urself here..ur tutorial should level to the beginners and not to ur level as an expert, that way u can share(unless u dont want too) or impart portion of that skill or knowledge to ur viewers
