Simplified Mudwing Design & Graphic Novel Discussion | WHATSISFACE

I hope you guys liked this one! I can’t wait to work through designs for the rest of the tribes!
I know this one was a little shorter than usual, but I think after this the next three redesign episodes I do will cover three tribes apiece. I just needed to get one tribe out of the way so I had nine left to do XD

Hearing your opinion on MudWings was interesting! Personally, they’re my favourite tribe for the exact reason they’re your least fave - when I think of a dragon, I see strong, low to the ground, fire breathing beast with noticeable muscle mass. Unless we’re talking hatchlings/dragonets, they’re powerful enough to command all of the attention/respect in the room. SilkWings are generally the hardest for me to relate to/draw because they are the epitome of ‘paper-thin, elegant, and extremely delicate’ and that just doesn’t feel like a dragon to me. It’s often frustrating for me to see fellow artists draw MudWings, and then immediately remove anything MudWing-esque from their design - their snouts get tiny, their bellies shrink, their legs get longer, and a lot of the time the entire placement of their nose gets forgotten. Not every dragon tribe or individual is paper-thin and dainty! And that’s okay! Different body and head types exist, and if the only thing that can distinguish your MudWing from your RainWing are the head scale shapes on the RW and their colours, I encourage you (general you to most WoF artists including myself) to branch out more. That said, I do love your art! I may disagree with you on how MudWing art is handled, but this was a fun video and I’d love to hear more of your opinions on the rest of the tribes.

The armored plated look is a really big part of the mudwing look, and even though it's a pain to draw every plate, it really gets the look across. Also the plate in the top of the head has the tip of the nose going up, which gives it a kind of "shovel" shape, which i headcanon they use to scoop up mud. That's just how i draw mudwings however, and this version is still great👍❤️

So true the first 30 seconds, I have a lot of trouble with icewings though, I think they are too "elegant"? Idk, but I can say I am fairly new too this community so I guess I will get better.

XD I think I know why atleast I find it difficult to draw icewings, 1 their scales, they are like a triangle with no bottom ALL over the body so I get lazy and put only some or none so then they look blank 2 their head, idk if you noticed this too but joy ang made winter have a sandwing like head but IN EVERY OTHER DRAWING IT'S FLAT and slightly curved but the right one I always draw it too skinny or to big so it looks like a messed up mudwing! 3 I try my best to not draw them XD Soo I think you can see where this is going.

Nice design... but you gave him many back spikes but you've left their thick head armor, it's very important as it helps them to dig into the ground. I am no professional but that's my opinion

Can the next one be Silkwings please? I love drawing them ( My main OC is a Silkwing named Skipper) and I'd love to see how you draw the wings! Also, Hivewings and Leafwings, please!

In tried to draw cannon mudwings in my style, but then I just decided to make a redesign and that includes basically ram horns, poking out teeth, and a tail that's shorter than the legs, but this is just me, and idk why but this is how I think of mudwings
