Question: It's recommended to grip/squeeze the tank with your knees while riding. I ride a retro classic: Honda CB350 and find it not as natural/easy to do so as compared to a sports bike. Please tell whether the same thing applies to street retro classic bikes as well? And if yes, kindly tell how. On another note, I have inculcated a habit of riding on the balls of my feet and i do so all the time! PS: Please make a Q&A series! No one to answer tons of Qs we have as riders trying to get better! Thank you :)

Great video Shumi! The video misses on one interesting subject - How to ride or balance a motorcycle when the pillion sits in chair like position (across the seat)? Some tips will be really useful for those want to carry women wearing saree as pillion. I once felt like falling and losing balance at a road turn when taking my sister in saree during a festival :D

Loose grip on handlebars a must. The bike will lean naturally to adjust for the weight imbalance. That lean is your new normal now. ...or just ask her to sink herself a bit towards her back, and sit straight. Just maintain a loose grip on handlebars and be comfortable with how the bike feels.

Try normal bikes like Glamour (old) , Pulsar 150 (normal variant), Unicorn and CBZ Xtreme (old) (best/perfect for single and pillion). You might really enjoy the pillion company on above category bikes as they are well balanced and mostly designed to carry a pillion perfectly. The rest of the bikes of below capacity would make the ride heavier and uneasy and above CC bikes might rob your planned enthusiastic/fun dhoom wala ride. Atleast its my experience in riding normal to heavy cc bikes.

Team PD, Greetings!! This is a really great series with good topic coverage. The videos definitely improved my riding experience. I would like to suggest a topic “tank slapper” or “speed wobble”. The reason I am raising this request is that PD is yet to cover it and second thing, I personally experienced it at a high speed. Luckily survived it! I would love to see a video related to this, the reasons of it happening and preventive actions to get out of it safely. It would definitely help someone out on the road.

I know this is quite a silly suggestion but honestly a large majority of people don't know the basics at all, especially when they obtain a driving license without any tests.

I am not sure whether there is any video regarding how to extract more mileage from the motorcycle. If no then it would be really good if we get a video on this. I see alot of ppl riding their bikes like shit. They just pull the throttle wide open regardless of which gear they are in. Also most of the ppl dont down shift while reducing the speed or stopping the vehicle. They just take off the vehicle in whichever gear it was in by pulling the throttle improperly to get the bike moving, giving half clutch. This increases alot of fuel burning as well as burning the clutch.

Vey good presentation! But you missed an extremely important point : when there is very enjoyable breeze, the pillion tend to go to sleep if not engaged as much as possible. Anyway, they don't need to be so engaged by themselves and be active, sitting behind and that brings about incidental boredom. This boredom, combined with soothing breeze, makes a catastrophe!. One of my close friends, was on bike tour of Gujrat & Rajasthan with his wife, in around 2012. The wife (pillion), started feeling sleepy around the morning time, just after within an hour (after the start), tumbled on the road due to sleepiness and was very badly injured. Fortunately, the protective gears saved her life but she had to be in ICU for 5-6 days and was nursed back to near normal health in the next 3-4 months, with multiple fractures she suffers due to the fall, even at the speed of around 80 km/hrs. Please advise what can be the better ways to avoid such unfortunate incidents!!! Please!
