Wow, so glad I found this video. I have almost the exact problem that my back swing gets steep and I have to “manipulated” my arms during the transition to shallow the arm and club just like the way she did it. Super insightful on the drills to “flatter” the back swing

Man you were absolutely born to do this. Every video leaves me feeling well informed on the mechanics and your golfers demonstrate such beautiful swings in response to your instruction. I'm sure they feel blessed to be under your watchful eye. Bravo my brother and thanks for the passion, it's inspiring. Peace

Man, this video encompasses everything Ive been focusing on in my golf game. A strong, vertical should rotation, going up and back towards the target, and down and through on the downswing. From there, it’s all about moving the club and hands in an arc around the body, from above one shoulder to the other. The right shoulder has been such a key for me. Forces a nice, deep hand path, and allows my weight to shift back to my front foot at the top of the backswing. The action of it moving down and through, has allowed my club to shallow, causes a natural weight shift and forces the hips to open. Great video here.

Great video. Many coaches use the head cover under the arm but you explained the nuances of why. Saw a video of my swing recently. Turn was good and hands at top were good but my first move is constantly right should (I swing right handed) moving "out" which kind of causes club to get too vertical and lose the supination in left wrist. Having big trouble correcting. Will try the right shoulder turn you are talking about. If you have other videos that focus on not bring right should out on transition please let me know. Thank you.

Wow. Right shoulder blade is an unbelievable cue. *Pulling* toward our spine guarantees a centered turn 😍 Do you have any equivalent pulling/left side feels you can share for the downswing? I seem to be too right arm dominant, losing my angles and hitting at the ball. Absolutely amazing stuff. Thank you.
@systemoptimizer3542

Thanks for sharing the concepts and explanations. I've suffered from similar issues of steep shaft during the downswing and low ball flight (reduced apex, less hang time, and loss of ability to hold the ball on firm and fast greens). On some of the down the line shots it looks like Ashley actually has her hands pulled inside her shoulders (close to her body) as opposed to directly underneath her shoulders (possibly with her weight/balance too much toward her toes). My guess is if she took one of her hands off the grip and let it hang it would hang further away from her and directly underneath her shoulder. In your opinion might that hands inside the shoulder setup also be encouraging her initial lift movement?

Love watching your teaching of golf. But confused by drill with head cover in trail side arm. Seen this drill before but also have seen that this drill creates a narrow swing path and not recommended. I would love to hear your thoughts as I really like your videos but hopefully you could help me out with my understanding of drill. Trusted.

This is an older video I know -- but a great one. What about the hand path on the way down and through? I am looking for a video/help in the return. My hands are much further from my body at contact then they were on takeaway. Is this something that can be controlled (Hogan "keep elbows at sides") or is it too late by that point and it is all about the takeway? Thank you for the great content!

Question: when addressing the ball, should the shaft be basically straight up? In other words, the shaft dissects the empty space between the legs (no forward shaft lean). Is that compatible with a strong grip? Hope this makes sense.

Love what you teach and how you explain it. 1 question. How can you not tackle her terrible grip? Left thumb poking under her right hand. I have a great hand and elbow surgeon when it goes on her. It’s a Time bomb having lived it.
@PorzakGolf

She has unbelievable club face control which makes her grip perfectly fine. Hand size can also change what’s visually appeasing when it comes to the grip but all that matters is the function. Promise you there’s no time bomb here. I’ll make sure to remind of that after her first LPGA Tour win 😉

I get confused cause i know hand path on takeaway is straight back but then i just keep going straight back and get disconnected, if i try to turn, i either whip the club inside or hood the clubhead with cause of no forearm rotation (or rotating it the other way)... Id love some videos on blending takeaway and finishing backswing...

I've been watching your videos a lot, somehow by trying your recommendation, I only made it worst. No blame on you, but sometimes you think you are doing something but nothing beats a feeling or in person lessons. I went back to the old swing. I wish I could travel to california and get a lesson there. I know your stuff is gold but somehow I'm either doing it wrong or it just doesnt work for me. Your chipping technique has been paying off though, reduced my scoring a lot because of that. Pitching is a work in progress, I find it hard. Anyways Kudos! Great job! Keep up the good work!

Just remember rhythm is the glue that holds the golf swing together. Making sure everything feels as if it’s moving back at the same speed and one piece is crucial. Even if you have to go 3x slower than you normally would, do whatever it takes to make sure you get it in the right spot before you turn to the top and let it go.

I have the opposite problem. My hands are way too low at the top of the backswing. If I try to get my hands higher, I feel like I'm just going to chop straight down on the ball. Any tips on how to get good backside rotation without getting the hands too low/too far behind me?

Why would coming in steep deloft the club if you didn't impact until you were at desired impact position with shaft lean? What did Count Yogi do? I'm trying to figure out why he was able to come in steep. Get out I hear how bad it is all the time.

a steep swing hits down on the ball more increasing the angle of attack. This delofts the club face and caused her lower shots prior to the slight changes we made.

when making a big turn the top the hands feel centered like the sternum is looking at the hands the entire time. There will always be a little runoff at the top with the arms and hands but none that the golfer is trying to create. The position we worked Ash into simply turned her hands with her body’s center in the same direction as her turn and not lifted above her body’s turn. Our knowledgeable viewer that responded to you is correct in saying that if the elbows stay together this helps the body turn the hands to the top while keeping them in front of the body’s center!

A lot of talk. but he is not changing anything in her swing.If she has a more upright backswing, then she loops it a little to achieve a less vertical hand path. Either way, she hits it great. I would really like to see him coach an 18 handicapper. With her he tells her about 10 things in a few minutes . You cannot change. ten things in 5 minutes. and accomplish anything.Sorry. A woman with a perfect swing like she has needs to be left alone.

When the guy says his hands went up here and he can't rotate out of it is the flaw? The FLAW is not where your hands necessarily went - the floor is that you don't get your weight in the back swing on your back right heel --- the space that allow your arms to drop down from the inside and there is plenty of room now to turn into the ball with out early extending. How do I know? Because I was a huge early extender and once I pushed back into my right back heel -- I stop early extending and now just rotate around.
