We grew peas, and as kids we'd go through the garden and eat the peas.... pods and all....same with green beans.. radishes etc .. we were grazing kind of kids I remember eating peas in hot milk. I don't know if they were boiled in the milk or placed in the hot milk after boiling. It was good, salt, pepper and butter, with hot peas.

I'm 74 years old. I was born in Sulfur Oklahoma and my Great-grandmother would make me a macaroni salad With just pasta and Miracle whip. To this day I have such fond memories of that salad. You using Miracle whip brought it to mind. Thanks.

Tali, I have the exact same chopper. It was my first time using it, and I practically diced my finger into the tray. On my 2nd and 3rd try, I diced my finger again. I finally learned to use my palm and to keep my finger up and away.

❤ I rotate what I chop in my gadget…for example I do cheese, then slice of onion, another cheese, another slice of onion or pickles. It helps push the cheese thru. I make my pea salad the same except I add boiled eggs and sometimes elbow noodles.

I love those frozen peas in my green salad also I just put the frozen peas in a cup of hot Tao water to defrost them and add them to my table salad , they are so good in it !! OMG. I made your other pasta salad. It was delicious. I eat on it for three days. I added chic peas and little slivers of carrots. The bacon and peperoni in were great. Talli Faye, I just turned 73 yesterday and am a pretty good cook, but I love spending time with you in your kitchen and learning about how you cook down in Texas. I never had pea salad and I'm not a big fan of Miracle Whip, but that salad looks delicious and I'll give it a try! Oh wow, I can not wait to make this piece salad. I've always tasted pea salad with frozen peas that were very hard and not cooked. I have never had a good pea salad. You said that you steam yours beforehand. I was raised with canned peas. I've never tasted a pea salad with canned peas or pre-cooked peas. I can't wait to try this recipe. It's just horrible to have raw crispy peas in a salad. This is a great idea and recipe that you have provided.

Oh, I love pea salad. It sure looks delicious! I do add some chopped boiled egg, but no pickles in mine, but I'd still eat it if someone else made it with pickles. I use the steamer peas, too, but canned peas are okay by me if I'm in a pinch. I saw that wrapped thumb and thought to myself, "Talli had a fight with chopper!". I'm the same way; if it's sharp I'll usually manage to cut myself the first time I use it. lol Is your Pyrex bowl the Butterprint pattern? That's my favorite Pyrex pattern. I love the print and I love the White and Turquoise color scheme of it.

My daughter, who is a fabulous cook, made a pea salad at Christma last year. I wasn't a huge fan. I don't think she par-cooked the peas and she did add bacon. I think the addition of pickles would have made it better too. I think I would make it exactly how you did.

Put a little Miracle Whip on the slicer blade first with a brush, then chop the cheese. It will go through slick! You’re using Miracle Whip in the recipe anyway so it won’t affect the taste.

Sweet peas ALWAYS makes me think of my momma too. But definitely not for the same reason as you 😂😂 she hated sweet peas 😠🤣! So I never had them growing up. Love pew salad now though. ❤ Thanks for sharing your recipe. But I can think of so many things I would gladly sit and eat that I hated growing up just to have that moment with my Mommy again 😢. I lost her this past April the 13th. Still trying to figure out what to do with myself. You just don't know/ realize just how much you need/depend on any one person until you no longer have them in your life. She was my rock always just a phone call away with all the advice under the sun and never too busy to just talk about nothing if that's what either of us needed. How do you find another rock like that? She'll never be replaceable but idk what to do? 😢

Oh Ms.Talli, I'm so sorry you cut your thumb while making a simple recipe. Ain't that the way things always go? I pray it isn't hurting too awful bad and heals right up. I love pea salad and I'm happy to see how Buzz likes his. I've never put pimento in mine before but I'm going to try that. I love pimento. By the way, I've even used Velveeta when I didn't have any cheddar. It works and it's good! I really love creamed peas and even make them for breakfast with toast.
