It's because he's shocked. His goal in this category for a while now has been 3x, which means the whole time he's probably been visualizing 14:39/38. And to be honest he's been on 3x pace so it's been kinda inevitable. But a 14:35 probably wasn't even a dream in his head, he said that entering Bits he was 1 second ahead of his perfect, ideal run. So to get a 14:35, even he is blown away.

So this is basically the cleanest 16 star run ever performed by a human. I play arcade Area 51 1cc for high score at work when I'm bored. I cracked a quarter million points a month ago and had a similar reaction, minus the screaming. Then two weeks later I had an ultra clutch "fuggit" practice run that netted 309,475, now my PB. Last night I actually had a dream that I survived the airfield with 3 health left, which is the way to a half million.

This really is an insane wr. Maybe 1.5s lost in total to mistakes and maybe you can get another second or two from tighter movement but that's about it. This is one of those records that is likely to not get broken until there's some new discovery.

I've never speedran this game (though I do incorporate some of the routing into my casual gameplay. I just don't have the coordination for actually running it), but it was the first ever 16 star run that actually brought speedrunning to my attention in the first place. And honestly, to find out that the category's basically dead now (at least until someone discovers how to do Parallel Universe travel or some other TAS-only tricks in a humanly possible manner), it's a bit sad.

Faster strats is what it'll realistically take. Someone finds the next chip clip and shaves a second or so here and there, and a 14:2x becomes realistic. Without that it's go back to OG cannonless and learn BLJ log star in LLL. Basically have to start using more single star strats, which will turn it into a reset fest.
