To be honest I'm not a big Simply Red fan - I just haven't listened to all that much stuff and never owned an album - but like most of us who were around in the 80s/90s in the UK it's part of the scenery. Not to say they could have not done better, but they were huge for around 10 years in Europe and South America. You could not open a radio for 2 hours without hearing their song and they could sell any stadium or festival at that time period. Neither did their popularity ever crash like some other pop acts after their peak.
