All of the food looked excellent! Congrats to David and Carly on the clean drumstick award. Cindy - we also prefer our banana pudding to not be baked. Their banana pudding looked amazing. 👍 Cheerwine on tap and good sweet tea - this place has all the boxes checked off. Sorry that y’all didn’t get to hear a server sing but hopefully a singer will be there on your next trip. That’s one great price for the quality and quantity of food.

I am so glad you guys tried Simply Southern. Me and the wife loved the food there. I was hoping you could witness the singing. There is no warning when they sing. It is great! One minute they cleaning tables then the spirit hits them and they start singing the gospel!😁

I’ve been to Myrtle Beach many times, but not for many years now. I ate at a few seafood buffets which were very good. I remember practically everything was fried. I prefer things broiled or grilled but I do like fried as well. One thing I remember from the south were the delicious biscuits and Golden Eagle syrup and biscuits and gravy. Things that can’t get up north. You can, but they’re pretty much inedible. I cook.

It’s interesting as we travel to different regions of the United States 🇺🇸 and see different types of foods. So much is really about what you are used to eating. Sweet tea is a good example. Carly loves sweet tea and I have to remind her that in the north it’s usually different than what she is used to. Southerners usually do fix good biscuits. I like things grilled and broiled too. Another great addition to your video collection, food looked fantastic and for 16 bucks that's a steal. I'd have to go on a day they have fish and nuggets, they're my favorite, Cindy you were smart to try the sauces before putting on your pulled pork. David and Carly destroyed those drumsticks. Thanks so much! I typically try the different sauces when we go to a bbq place for the subscribers. I'm picky, but this is something I do like. David and Carly both love a drumstick! The fish was so good! I had one piece but could have eaten another. I try to pace myself when we do a buffet. We all enjoyed here so much! Appreciate you and your insightful comments!

Now you can't go wrong with a cool refreshing glass of sweet tea, the selection of sides looked great however me personally I would have loved to see more selection on meats especially a beef choice but nevertheless the food looked great especially the fish and of course we baptists know good eating when we see, taste and smell it lol! Our pleasure! The food here was amazing! They have ribs for dinner everyday. On Saturdays they do have hamburger and gravy. We would have went on that day but we left on Friday. I would agree that another beef option would be good. Definitely an awesome value!

I grew up with Kraft Mac & Cheese also being in the store as "Kraft Dinner" It was 19 cents a box when I was a kid and up to 54 cents when I introduced my future ex-wife to it on our honeymoon. When I introduced it to my daughter after I retired, we caught it on sale at 87 cents a box. She was also blown away by the bilingual packaging. (As was her mom way back when...) Of course milk in a bag is also something different. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal in South Carolina. And, I've been going there since I was four months old. Yes, I have eaten at some really questionable places along the way! David's love of Cheerwine reminds me of my grandfather's fondness for it. As late as the week before his passing, my grandmother was still making Cheerwine floats for she and my grandfather to share. Just like they had when "courting" 50+ years earlier. That and marshmallow peanuts were among the "bad habits" my grandfather introduced me to! I've actually brought some Cheerwine with me to Los Angeles and introduced my friends out there to it. (Likewise, mustard based barbecue sauce!) The food in this video reminded me so much of my grandmother's cooking. She tried so hard to teach me how to cook barbecue chicken. My mother was never able to duplicate it. I've had a couple of near-misses. TNX for bring back some good memories! God Bless!

Thanks for sharing about your love of Kraft too! We keep it in the house because it's an easy side that David and Carly both enjoy. I like Kraft too but not as much as them. lol I love the story of how your grandmother made Cheerwine floats for your grandfather to the end. Pretty cool they they did this for over 50 years. Just a simple example of true love and how the little things you do for each other show the love they shared. We purchased the sweet vinegar based bbq sauce from Simply Southern and bought some home. Friday we purchased some bbq, for a fundraiser for a local man, and we put some of the bbq sauce on it. It was outstanding! Glad we bought back some good memories. God Bless!

Good Evening! Hope all is well with you. I don't think the fish is catfish. I think it is a Swai or Basa. It's a form of catfish from Asia. It tasted wonderful. The sign just said Fried Fish so to be honest with you I don't really know what kind. We really loved our food here and everyone was so nice and friendly. We will definitely have to return to Simply Southern Smokehouse when we are back in Myrtle Beach. Hope you have a great evening and a blessed week.

LOL It's so funny that you say that. I was looking around the restaurant and noticed people had plates piled up so high! It actually made David's look empty. lol I don't like to put my food on top of each other, so I guess that's why I noticed it.

We went to this restaurant based on your reviews and those of a couple others, we were soooo disappointed! The chicken bog was absolutely disgusting, the bread I think was supposed to be cornbread but I think they forgot to put the cornmeal in the recipe. I honestly thought I might puke when I tried the chicken and dumplings it may be the nastiest thing I ever ever had in my mouth. The fried chicken was ok, not really any flavor in the actual meat but it was at least juicy. If anyone that has tastebuds in your mouth reads this then do not go to this restaurant $36 was way too much to pay for this garbage. Oh and the lady in this video compared the food to what she would get in Tennessee, I am from Tennessee and if you’ll tell me where you got garbage like this while in Tennessee I’ll personally go there and tell them off for you.

As a person who grew up and worked on a farm in the country who ate 99 percent of our food out of a garden and slaughtered our own animals I have to say this. Simply southern is ok at best. It's basically a city slickers version of what they think "country cooking " is. All of their vegetables are out of a can bought in bulk from some rest. Supply joint. It's OK all the city folks think they're getting the real experience
