Simply Woodworking - Let's make a Quran book holder - Fumed Oak carving

A friend commissioned me to make a bookstand to hold a Quran, so I was happy to oblige! I found some nice and very dark fumed oak and did a bit of carving to decorate. I am pleased with how it turned out, so please let me know if you like it and all that. Peace!

Yeah that carving is really effective, it's interesting that the wood is the same colour all the way through given it was exposed to fumes, they must penetrate. I struggle using the saw rasp to shape concave surfaces on my guitar builds, I resort to a curved file but it's not at all as good as the saw rasp! I wish there was a curved version!
