It's worth growing, the problem with Rex (and some other apexes in general) tend to be more of an skill issue rather then it's potential, Rex right now wins facetank againts any apex (even a sharp horns Trike that starts with charge atk), so you only need to protect your back in these fights, your opponent will have the task of trying to tailride you, the think is, most of people don't know how to properly protect their back, especialy using big dinos, Rex's precise movement(if used correctly ) alows you to keep up with any apex and subapex, for smaller dinos you usually can handle then by using tail atk and kinda of tail kiting then, things only get complicated if you're dealing with experienced players that will try to bait you and atk on the cooldown.

Yes, THANK you. I'll also add that utilizing terrain effectively, and precise-turning while moving your butt in the opposite direction at the same time are both useful skills for rex players

One thing I found out just recently, is that basically every single official Dino in the game has had its stamina recovery heavily NERFED. Example: the Struthi’s stamina recovery before the update was 5; now it’s 0.8.!!!

Yeah I noticed that too, duck also got Stam regen nerf. I don’t know the number before update but now it definitely feel much slower than before. But at least it’s HP regen got a buff and probably other dino too😊

The thing with Rex is that it's slow. It socks that you have to decide to have tail attack or balance. I wish Rex had two tail slots.

Imma give yall some useful Rex tips so listen up!! This is my build and ill explain it. +Damage Rex, Reg Bite & Crush Bite, Lome Hunter, Slick Scales, Stomp, balanced tail, and deep rumble. -The subspecies is preferrence. Im sure all subspecies can equally pull off this build. -I use Crush Bite because FaceTank doesnt seem to be working(I would rather use that). The crush bites gives you a greater chance of catching smaller dinos and if you ever need a longer bone break you can just stack after reg biting twice. Hunter is obvious as it's the only sense ability. -I run the speed hide becuase it also helps trott(walking) speed which helps for travelling and walking down herbs out of stam(most herbs have a base trott speed lower than rex's base trott speed). Of course the added sprint speed helps and will now allow you to catch Non-speed ducks, barsboldia, albertas, defense dasps/allos. You will notice a MUCH easier time catching these dinos with this hide. Of course also most people domt expect the rex to be quick so it helps when ppl get too close and you can sprint out and bone break. I'll explain my thoughts on slick hide later. -Stomp does tremendous damage which helps when youre crowded, at the start of the 1v1 so you hit the opponent for massive damage with aoe before theyre in your face, and more importantly 1 shotting raptors. -Now a lot of you are advocates for tail attack which is good but hear me out. Balance tail increases your PRECISE MOVEMENT TURN SPEED. Which is when youre holding precise movement and just looking left or right. You turn so fast that pretty much nothing can stay on your tail. You will be standing still to do this but it helps because your stomp will always be ready when you need it. Slick scales is awesome but I personally dont like giving up the speed. Also i just prefer to be good at fighting raptors. When you notice them approaching stop moving and precise turn to face them. If they jump at you its an easy bite on them midair. If you are being serounded the best thing is to continuously rotate back and forth to always face the approaching raptor, if yoi feel overwhelmed get them away with a stomp. If they get a successful pounce on your shoulders just look towards them, walk, and bite. It hits them on the tail which is reduced but still hurts. If they get you on the thighs you just have to buck. This is the only downside but i hope they increas ethe amount of stam they lose per buck to like 15-20%. Try some of these ideas even if not the whole build and im sure youll love rex again! #FixFaceTank 😢

I’m a bit confused about this build. First of all 10% speed is all great and everything, but you lose 25% turn speed. So what’s the point of equipping balanced tail. Am I missing something here? Any other skin would be better, resilient gives bleed healing for raptors if you don’t want to use slick scales and ofc slick is to just be immune to any pouncing all together. Since Rex is so slow if I ever get enough marks for stomp I may consider using it. I have BB subspecies, I’m using lone, strong legs, slick, Cb, Nb and balanced tail. I haven’t been in any real fights as of yet but def eventually.

@Louvenoire05 Tbh the rex turning is so bad you don't notice. Also, balanced tail helps with Precision Turn, not turn radius (walking in a circle) the goal is to keep them off your tail and you will never be able to walk and do that. You must precise turn quickly as they will move to avoid your face. The speed hide is definitely a preferrence and this hide doesn't necessarily increase survivability ad much as it does your ability to make sure you get the kill. You'd be fine not using it. If you ever want to spar or run with a group hmu

@@Lord--Penguin Ohhh so basically no one should ever worry about the Rex’s normal turn radius, ever? Even with the balanced tail, because it’s way faster to turn with precise turning anyways. Hmm honestly that explains a lot because normal precise turn is just okay, but that 15% actually does help a lot. I think I lost a lot of fights because I was trying to turn way more then actually using precise 100% of the time. It just doesn’t make sense to even try to turn normally…I gotchu. This also goes to show that people gotta practice pvp a bit to learn things and get better. I’ll try it later. Thanks a lot! 😎

I'll be honest. I've been playing a ton of my rex since the update. I love the stomp. It is the best zoning tool he has. I've been 1v1 anything and everything. Killed dozens of chickens, primarily with stomp. I feel like it's kind of unfair to say it wasn't great. Especially when you are getting 1v8 every fight.

have you tried vs modded dinos like Giga, if so how does rex stand up? since i'm assuming giga did not get a comat weight and health nerf like the rex since it's modded so it should be heavier built, whoever it also does not have lone hunter like the official dinos.

Unfortunately, I don't think the official T. rex is still not really worth growing after this update. The Face Tank should have been an on option for the sense ability as an alternative to Lone Hunter, rather than sacrificing one of the T. rex's jaw attack options. The cool down for the Crushing and Bone Breaking bites is still an issue in a fight, but without the Bone Breaking and Crushing bites, all an opponent has to do is retreat and the T. rex's lack of speed and bad stamina problems means that it cannot pursue an opponent. The turning rate for the T. rex is still pretty poor, and timing issues with Stomp really doesn't offer that much in deterring tail riding during a fight. In place of Stomp, Long Distance Runner could probably have been a slightly better option in that T. rex could have a slightly odds of catching up to something fleeing. All in all, the PT T. rex is still much superior to the Official T. rex, because PT rex is quieter when stalking and its Red Herring ability does allow for it to quickly close the distance to its intended target within range. Now Official rex had a comparable ambush and turning abilities and could more quietly stalk prey like the PT rex, then it would be a better improvement. Lower the cooldown for the Crushing and Bone Break bites so that Official rex can use the standard bite more quickly afterwards. And move Face Tank into the Sense ability slot. Then Official T. rex would be a much better playable creature in this game.

I agree I’ve been saying the same thing unfortunately PT is now following the POT Rex trend and is nerfing its Rex and added that linked cool down for the bone break to the main bite, the mods say it’s not a big issue and you only miss out on 1 bite but from my experience it’s extremely punishing and gives other players a huge advantage against the Rex,… I used to be able to 3v1 golugores with my Rex now I’m having a hard time killing a charch

What they need is for weight to affect movement blocking. You can have small dinos block you from turning or backing up by being near you. They ought to get pushed out of the way or stepped on.

If you sprint when something smaller is in front of you they take trample. Trample from a rex will kill any deinonychus or latenivenatrix in one hit.

@@jacobjordan5189 - My rex has been body blocked by smaller dinos (note I didn't say smallest). Sprinting isn't going to damage an enemy that's glued to your flank. Sprinting also isn't going to do anything but drain stamina and make you completely unable to do anything but a basic attack and certainly won't allow escape. The point is that combat weight needs to be taken into account when calculating collision. A cerato shouldn't be able to prevent a rex from strafing sideways or turning. It should be pushed out of the way. It's an in between point from trample and being blocked with nothing happening to a much lighter dino. Obviously if something of relatively similar weight was blocking, that would be reasonable.

I feel like the only Dino’s that should of got slick scales were semi aquatics, raptors, and small dinos not the med to apex level cause a larger Dino can just you off there friend not to mention some can bite you and hit you depending on where you grapple so they basically made the new pounce and grab abilities useless

with stomp being in the game the tail riding wont be a problem anymore, and if its an apex then you turn switch rapidly and start wrecking at their face with your bite ability, or if you hit a bb. GG

@SIMPLYAMAZING So for 1 the issue ur having with turning is because ur using precision turning it's not meant to be used up close it's meant to turn to pivot incoming attackers normal turn is much faster at turning. I hope this helps

Your setup is great with that but change your stomp out with the strong legs ability and you're very deadly then

Tip for turning for the Rex (I believe you're on ps5): push l2 and use only the right stick to reposition yourself, don't use the left stick at all, it makes it really slow. The stomp is definitely not useless, best use for it is to use it right after the crushing bite to finish smaller targets off, like sarcosuchus, otherwise you use it for annoying swarms of small enemies that come close to you, just time it properly. To get the raptors off of you mash the x button (jump) the stomp obviously won't hit enemies not on the ground.

Rex is a beast now, I wouldn’t say I’m a great player as I’m fairly new but I’m decent and I’ve 1v1’d everything in deathmatch and unless I do something stupid I generally win. The fact all the other dinos have had their stam nerfed (+ rex stam recovery has been slightly buffed along with positional turn speed) it doesn’t feel as much as like a walking punch bag, I still think the hp and combat weight should be returned back to what it was though.

Anyone agree that agree that Sucho is getting too much buff after all these updates. Like they are trying to make all mid tier Apex Buster for some reason. Dasp gets a penetration bite that ignore combat weight and resistance, Allo gets a Hatchet which obviously works best against Big Dino and now Sucho with its Claw barrage that also is most practical against Big Dino that can’t escape before Sucho can stacks the barrage again. And it’s not even funny for me, isn’t Apex supposed to be on the top of food chain? And I know that it’s still takes more than 1 mid tier to take down single Apex but it’s still undeniably bad for player ecosystem when the most viable class of Dino is Mid tier because not because it’s the best but it’s OP, it could take down Apex alone and also fast and agile enough to deal with small tier. Animal on the top of the food chain should be something like a rare but dominant force but in this game it’s the opposite, it’s not rare and also not quite dominant.

Agree with the cera video. Sucho is 100% worth growing he's in such a good place. I just miss my leaping cerato. Miss people trying to ride me and jumping over them with the charged bite. Was such a good pachy hunter and official needs a good pachy predator. Yes pycno is there but they just head rush like pachy and take bad fall damage.

I tried the Deinonychus for the pounce , But I didn’t know if you have to add it to his or her ability, and the also for the new aquatic Dino Confused me since he wouldn’t attack anything , I don’t know if he’s bugged , I think the devs should just leave the Dino’s on how they should be , like the bigger the more opt you are , and the more smaller the more agile and fast you are , just like in Jurassic Park

My guy PT rex is still king POT rex was amazing when it first came out they didn’t need to do anything to it but the devs ruined it and to this day they are trying to UNFUCK it up,… if what they want is the rex not being played as much simple…… incentivize players playing another Dino or playing in groups as other Dino’s …. Make a mob of 2 slot Dino’s and gain a damage boost every member that joins your party, give the rex nerfs that make sense venom causes hunger and water drain to go up,…. Or venom causes bleed to last longer that way people make deadly combos to beat the rex. The POT rex doesn’t feel like an apex it feels like a punk bully that gets socked in the nose once and leaves you alone…. I bet Jack Horner is a dev because they ruined my boy

Exactly, the fact alone that Rex can now take on not one but two Eos and actually win should speak for itself. The pt Rex could barely beat just one and that was before the nerf. I think people that still say the Pt version is much better haven't actually tried the official and are just looking at videos. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Pt rex and it was much better than the official before, but now it's just lacking in abilities. I'm sure it'll be great again once they give it some new stuff to work with, but for now, official Rex is stronger overall.
