Lol poised? No he wasn't poised he was the opposite early but he settled into game and showed his talent buzzing for the kid but he needs to be poised so he can start games how he means to finish them. Darnold is going to be qb2 but trey is going to be the backup qb I know it dosnt make sense. Let me explain Trey's slow starts not just this year through his career means better have darnold as qb2 so if Brock go down during a game darnold can come in and play veteran ball. Trey can't come in to take over start slow turn ball over it could cost us game we should win.however if Brock goes down and darnold takes over I still believe niners will play trey next game being able to play from start and grow into the game. I hope that makes sense now lol.

I’ve been saying this forever. Trey Lance is a player that you have to just put out there and let him play, it doesn’t matter if it’s with back ups, practice squad players whatever. He’s a guy you need to be like hey, you’re playing this whole preseason game, just go play. He’s got all the tools

He looked good end of 3rd and the 4th quarter. Before that he was missing reads, receivers, very indecisive and uneasy in the pocket. Was nice to see he could start so shaky then pull it together. Needs reps and honestly prolly and easier offensive scheme

I had no doubt in my mind about Trey Lance after watching him play in college and learning how intelligent he is with a great memory. During his first year on the Bison team, he learned the offensive playbook so well that he was given the starting job the next season as a red shirt freshman. What he does is figure out all the weaknesses and strengths of both teams while he's on the sideline and while he's on the field so after a couple of possessions, he already knows where he can throw the ball to the weakest areas of the defense and knows what direction to run because of the weakest part of his offensive line. Once he gets all the information he needs and always protecting the football until then, he begins his attack and keeps getting better and better with each possession. At NDSU, the defense was so good that he had more time taking in the information he needed to start his attack. He was then unstoppable and either passed for touchdowns or ran with the ball to get first downs and touchdowns. This is what Kyle Shanahan loved about Trey which is something John Lynch couldn't understand. Now we're seeing how Trey does that. Starts slow with some mistakes and holding the ball so to protect it until he figures out a game plan in his mind, then he attacks with aggression which is exactly how he played both in the first game and on Saturday night. He is going to be a great NFL quarterback for either the 49ers or another team who wants him for his entire career.

We all want the kid to succeed. But what nobody wants is to watch the team lose games so he can get valuable experience. Even a couple of regular season losses with him at the helm could cost of home-field advantage in what should be a Super Bowl year. Every single minute counts this season.

Lance so needs a year or two in the minors. Talent just oozes out of every poor but you need game time reps so you don't have to think about the little things to be an NFL QB1. The difference between Purdy and Lance is that Purdy isn't thinking about the little things which gives him time to dissect the big things. That abbility comes from game reps not practice reps.

Where? those are basic throws. Nothing oozes from him but mediocrity. That one when he scrambles left for a first down only happened because of the two holding penalties. Looks poised…. Yeah, if you eliminate the awful snaps from his first drives including what should’ve been a pick up the middle on a ball that should’ve never been thrown, and an actual pick on a screen pass. He was Jeckel and Hyde.

One problem, can lance do this in a real game? We've seen Brock do it in 10 games. Tray still has to prove himself. Plus, Brock's first drive wasn't half bad either.
