The reason why Sebastian is more powerful than Claude is that in the manga it's said wherever the mark is more visible, the contract between demon and soul would be more powerful. Since Ciel has his on his eye and Alois has his on his tongue (which is slightly less visible) that's why it isn't as strong.

I dont think its not what it suppose to mean. The "contract would be more powerful" means Ciel's capability to control Sebastian and the strength of their contract not to break easily . Sebastian is really strong in nature. I think demons has different level of strength too. Its just happened that Sebastian is capable of doing everything than Claude but it doesnt mean their strength depends on the location of the mark.

Sebastian never called his master ciel because that isn't his name, the young master lied. The real ciel phantom hive died on the alter (he was the sacrifice used to summon Sebastian) the real ciel phantom hive is the confident, smiling child shown in several flashbacks. The first one that comes to mind for me is Elizabeth remembering playing with ciel in their garden. I can only remember one time when the young master is shown when his brother was still alive in the anime, when Barron kelvin (hope I spelt that right) remembers meeting ciel for the first time. We get to see a shy child hide behind his father before a more confident one meets Barron kelvin. The less confident one was the young master and the confident one was ciel. When his brother dies the young master had nothing left to lose, so he summoned Sebastian. When Sebastian asked for his name he claims he is ciel. Sebastian knows this is a lie but goes along with it, but never calls him by his brothers name. There are lots of theories to explain why the young master took his brothers name but I'm just going to say my personal favourite. The young master was the younger twin, the weaker twin and the less confident twin. In the end his brother would be earl phantomhive and he wouldn't. Madam red and Elizabeth have always been shown to prefer ciel to the young master. Since the real ciel died the young master could claim his name and the title of earl phantomhive, but I don't think that's it. I think the young master expected those around him to be unhappy when he returned, he didn't want to be around people who would chose his brother over him if they had the choice. So he pretended to he his brother instead of facing people who never cared about him anyway. I hope I explained that alright.

Black butler is very obviously based on the book Dr. Faustus, which is where Mephistopheles comes from. A contract with a demon or the devil is called a Faustian contract. Also not to mention claude faustus, even though with his character it doesn't quite fit. I personally think black butler is Dr. Faustus meets hamlet with some extra craziness thrown in. I love that fact about the guy who voices Sebastian, because my top 3 animes are black butler, soul eater, and tokyo ghoul. Also, Tsukiyama and Sebastian are some of my fav characters ever. I didn't really have any interest in Giriko (is that how you spell it?) until I read the manga, where I certainly find his character much more interesting and pivotal.

In a total random note, I wanted to say that Tanaka is one of my favorites and the coolest character ever. In Season 1, if I remember correctly, Ciel wanted to test out the camera that can see the person in the picture's dead loved one that they miss. While Tanaka was explaining, a scene showed a picture of Tanaka and his wife, so it kind of means that Tanaka's wife died. And, guys, he lived through 2 burnings. And he still sips tea like a boss. He's the best in my opinion.
