Quick explanation about the 33 cycle (for a more in depth explanation, Bubzia made a video on the history of the star explaning all cycles and all the intricacies): after the normalisation at the blue crystal, the one before the yellow moving block, he starts a beatcount with which he grabs thw red coins 4, 5 and 6. For this, he has to start the beatcount when the moving platform aligns, so he starts at a sound cue. With his super fast beginning, if everything goes perfectly and NO amps shock you (which is 100% RNG) he gets to the crystal at a high 31s, being able to catch the fastest sound cue and therefore the fastest cycle possible with the strat, which happens at around 33s, and it's therefore called the "33 cycle". So, in this run he start moving out of the crystal after being 33s into the stage (beginningg textboxes excludef obviously). Since that's very unlikely, he also memorised 2 more sound cues for 2 more cycles, the "37 cycle" and "41 cycle" (every cycle is 4s long as in visual obviously). He had never got a clean IL with the 33 cycle in an IL settings before the run, and out of nowhere he got it in an actual run settings, in the actual WR.

@@SomeoneSomewhere42069 no no 🤣 usually when you hear the word "cycle" (it obviously also applies to visual runs as well) it's about catching a specific cycle of the movement of one or more moving platforms (the can be in different positions, but you need them to align in order to do your strat, for example here to catch the 4th red and also to do the LJs after the 6th one, and so you have to wait for it, and so you can be fast and catch X cycle, or wait for the next one and catch Y cycle, etc...)

Well MIPS has a pattern, that will be exactly the same, every time you come for him with those inputs. So it's easier to cacth him blindfold in fact. Cause you won't try to "correct" your angle or think you'll miss him. You beatcount, do inputs, catch him in the exact same place, everytime.

Hi, one of the stratters of this blindfolded dark world here! Yes, it is 100% legit, and Bubzia actually has a recent video explaining DW reds. You should definitely go give it a watch! The main breakthrough is that instead of using completely normalised movements (backflips, using ledge grabs to find where you are etc.), everything is "beatcounted" instead. If you listen closely, he always does the same movements to the same beats of the music. It definitely isn't 100% consistent (DW reds is by far the most reset-heavy star), but it's so much faster and consistent enough to be worth a shot. You're absolutely right to say that it seems impossible tho - compare this DW reds with the one in his 120 run a year and a half ago, and you'll get a even deeper appreciation of how insane this red coin truly is!

I feel like "reaction" videos are a dumb outdated fad. But i also feel like these are more commentary. I know the titles and thumbs are intended to be click bait satire most of the time too. But I also think most viewers respect your growth, not just as a skilled player, but as a source of information as well. I think KZbin as a whole would be better with reviews and commentary pieces rather than reactions and click bait.
