tbh I personally use the "hack" whenever I remove nail polish, I swapped to using a menstrual cup a while back but used to buy tampons in bulk boxes before that so I still had lots lying around my house that I didn't use anymore. the hack gave me a better way to get use of them rather than just throwing the full boxes away:)

I think the point was to use the tampon (still mostly in the applicator) to keep nail polish remover from getting on your fingernails after you've already painted them The caption on the OP said something like "how many times I've forgotten to do my toenails before my fingernails" So really, using the applicator is the "hack"

@@baguettegott3409 Most do come with applicatiors. There's one brand, OB, that is fairly common and don't come with applicators, but otherwise, almost all well known tampon brands sell with either cardboard or plastic applicators.

The hack sort of works but not super great! The tampons are too absorbent, and by the time you can get the tampon really wet with acetone to take off your polish, the volatility of the acetone makes it evaporate before you really can!

the reason the taco remover hack "works" is because the taco like bonds with the nail polish especially when you are painting your nails, and if you wipe while it is still wet it has bonded to the color (or holo taco) and just comes off with it.
