To be honest I'm not a big Simply Red fan - I just haven't listened to all that much stuff and never owned an album - but like most of us who were around in the 80s/90s in the UK it's part of the scenery. For whatever reason I had this song in my head today and so I've gone on youtube to listen to it.. and I came across this. Wow! I might have passed up the next time I could have seen Mick Hucknall performing because he's been off the radar for so long - but having heard this, I'm surprised in the good way - he was always an incredible singer and it sounds like he's one of the few who hasn't lost the magic stuff over these past decades.

Not to say they could have not done better, but they were huge for around 10 years in Europe and South America. You could not open a radio for 2 hours without hearing their song and they could sell any stadium or festival at that time period. Neither did their popularity ever crash like some other pop acts after their peak.

Also haven't smoked pot in almost 11 months so it feels good giving up that unproductive vice of mine. Also realized tequila was the reason I got in trouble in the first place.. He sings this so beautifully and effortlessly. Sounds almost exactly like the recording from more than 30 years ago. I could listen to this all day.

I saw them live in Los Angeles about 17 years ago (shit I was about to say 10 years ago) and at first I was pissed because I thought he was lip synching because it was so flawlessly perfect. After watching him closely for a few songs I realized it was all live. Very impressed.

Listening to this on my home "man cave stereo", and realized that his voice has not changed from the original recording of this song, So few, if any singers have a live signing voice so good when compared to their studio voice. Bravo!

Although beautifully done, this is a cover. This is an Afro-Centric American oldie but goodie. Not the Isley Brothers who also recorded this.
