Can you explain why you decided to remake the curves of the handle, when you used the fillet curves the result looked pretty accurate regarding the right elevation, why did you removed them and make them again using the blend curves tool ? Both curves appear to be G2 curves, am I right ? Also it is very nice video, really impatient to see the next two others ! thanks
@SimplyRhino3D8 жыл бұрын
Hi Valentin, The Fillet Curve command makes Tangent (G1) continuous radial fillets. In order to create a G2 Curvature continuous blend, I removed the fillets and replaced them with an Adjustable Curve Blend set at G2. The idea here is that you use fillet crv to create the setback (trim) and then replace the fillet with a curve that is of a better continuity. Glad you are enjoying our series, we've just published the next in the series :)

I suppose my true question is, what geometric functions can be performed, and does it have CAM system support?
@jacobmacon21566 жыл бұрын
Does anyone have any information regarding what can be built? Perhaps some examples? What is this software for? CAD, or game design? Would you be able to build a rifle or character or tools, like shovels in a game, or would you be able to build a handle for a tool for a CNC project? Rings? Necklaces? It seems like it could do a lot, I just don't really know a lot about it. This is my first time watching Rhino do anything at all.

At the moment 36,23. You changed the fillet with adjustable curve blend to make the curves curvature continues instead of tangent continues. Why? what happens if it is tangent continues. Should we make everything curvature continues?
@SimplyRhino3D7 жыл бұрын
Hi, generally speaking when I am creating a blend curve between two curves (i.e. not straight sections) I would use G2 Curvature Continuity as this is an aesthetic (and mathematical) improvement over G1 Tangent Continuity. Where any straight sections are involved I would generally step down to G2 Tangency Continuity against the straight section - this avoids the possibility of an inflection or negative curvature where the G2 matching tries to match a curve of an infinite radius. Hope this helps. Thanks, Phil

Hello, thanks for the tutorial, btw, where I can find good environment maps for an analysis
@SimplyRhino3D8 жыл бұрын
Hi Diego. Briefly, there are a number of ‘environment maps’ that ship with Rhino - you can see where these are stored in the file path at the top of the EMap Options palette. These are mainly mirrorball projection images and you can find similar images on-line and save these into this folder . An alternative to using the EMap is to create a custom View mode with a variation on the Shaded mode using a reflective environment. Hope this helps.

I created the Body Surface Inner (004-002) exactly like you showed us. But I can not explode it to correct the points (and to have a better zebra) I am using Rhino 5 for Mac.
@SimplyRhino3D6 жыл бұрын
Hi, Did you use the ‘Loose’ option when you did the surface offset? In the case of this model this should split the offset at the four quadrant points. To improve the Zebra Display, click ‘Adjust Mesh’ in the Zebra dialog box and then the small arrow next to ‘more polygons’ in the mesh slider dialog - this will open up are more detailed mesh dialog. In the case of a small model like this and assuming your are working in mm set all the values to 0 except for ‘Maximum distance, edge to surface’ and set this to 0.005. Hope this helps.
@wave02wave6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the quick answer! Yes, i enabled the "loose" option. When I clicked "explode" it said in the history panel "Cannot explode single surfaces". I got an other Problem. (Maybe it is just the Mac Version :( ) After I did "Sweep 1 Rail" I want to make the fillet with the command "BlendEdges" But when I look for edges (ShowEdges) than their are just one edge where the seam was. I already looked trough google, but I can not find any solution.
@SimplyRhino3D6 жыл бұрын
Hi, I checked this with the Mac version and if you Rail Revolve a profile around an true ellipse and then offset inward with the Loose option the result should be a Polysurface that you can explode. Regarding your second point - if you mean on the handle - for the softened edges you need Solid > Fillet Edge > Blend Edge - this command works on a joined edge between surfaces. Hope this helps :)

i did not understand why you use rebuild command for? Is it necessary for creating organic curves? thank you.
@SimplyRhino3D7 жыл бұрын
Hi Elsa, Very often I use the rebuild command to create a curve of a known degree and known number of control points. For example the degree 3 curve is curvature continuous whilst being fairly easy to adjust as long as there are not too many control points.

Hi, In the third part of this video series we use a V-Ray Dome Light from V-Ray Express. This light can be removed and replaced with other V-Ray lights giving you complete control of the illumination. Hope that answers your question?
