Yes. This works because part of what makes an egg go bad is oxygen slowly getting inside, so when they get more oxygen inside, they will float. If an egg stays at the bottom of a bowl of water, it's still good. If it floats in the middle or to the top, toss it out. Also, you can even tell how fresh eggs are by this kind of test. If they lay a certain way in the bowl, you can tell if they are less than a week or more than a week old. It's pretty cool.

Maybe we can hire the shed people to come it? Lol!
@b4k4survivor5 күн бұрын
@@simplysimona4562 this is actually a viable option. Any shed company (and probably some others) will have those types of machines that can get under a structure like that and move it around, pretty easily. I believe they're called "powered trailer jacks/dollies". A forklift operator could do the same thing, but would possibly need the ground to be pretty level (and using a trailer jack/dolly might be a lot easier if they're just moving it around on site). I'm not sure how much it would cost to have them come out. I think an average rate might be like $250 to $400, it might cost more because they factor in the time it would take them to drive out there/etc. Still, one of those powered trailer jacks/dollies would probably do it no problem and a forklift could probably get it too (if the ground is even enough). might need to even it out enough for wherever the moving device has to get access to the structure

What are you going to do about the gray water being dumped on the land? Or are you going to have that water run via a hose into your gray water tank? If so, monitor it or have the shower water drain into a container of its own! Sometimes accidents occur while showering! Or the water will drain into your septic tank? Just pondering how that gray water situation will be dealt with!
@b4k4survivor5 күн бұрын
Based on an earlier video where the septic is installed, they can probably run a drain line into their septic tank... I'd guess it's within 50-100 feet from that location. I think they can possibly legally do something like digging a large ditch near that shower house, drain the water into a perforated pipe that runs along the bottom of that ditch, cover the pipe and infill with gravel and large stone (so no humans or animals can come into contact with the shower waste water). Arizona is very permissible when it comes to "outdoor showers". Lots of people have pools in areas like Phoenix and will install outdoor showers that more or less flow into nearby vegetated basins (or a ditch like I've described). There have not been any real issues with public health/etc. The key is ensuring that wherever the water is discharging into is large enough to take that volume of water and the water cannot come into contact with animals/people (surface discharge is normally not allowed, if not altogether forbidden). If you search youtube for Brad Lancaster and "Plant your greywater as you shower" and "Dryland-harvesting home gathers sun, rain, food, & more" you will find videos that show an example of a permaculture expert in the Tucson area who has an outdoor shower among many other cools things. I have tried to encourage them to look into his books and examples. I honestly believe they will be able to build something that responsibly deals with whatever public health concerns and other issues typically arise from greywater disposal. The county might be strict or they may have issues if somebody on YT calls and complains, but I think if they just ensure the water has 2-3 times the necessary space it needs to drain (for like a 10 minute shower) and is covered in a way to prevent human/animals from accessing it, they will be fine. They will need to learn to space out showers/etc. which they should try to do anyway as they are draining into their septic. Their Travel Trailer is probably piped to drain it's gray and blackwater into their septic tank already. This is allowed by Mohave county as long as they apply for a renewable permit (which I believe they have).

Lots of beautiful places in Arizona. Lots of "rock-hounding" too. Just try to be as respectful of the land as you can be, mindful of where you're at (sometimes it's private property and it might not seem like it, so make sure you're good with where your collecting from). I try to follow a very "leave no trace" kind of ethos, like take nothing and leave nothing when out in nature so you are leaving as much beauty as possible to the next generations, but that type of place you were at is where a lot of gravel/rocks gets deposited by water coming down from the nearby mountains/bolders/rocks. There are always going to be more and more little bits of rock like that as stuff upstream naturally crumbles off of the cliff faces or gets scooped along by storm water. So, in my opinion, if you are taking smaller little chunks like you got, that is not like you are greatly degrading the land or anything. I think it's harmless as long as you don't go crazy with it. Digging into stuff with tools and taking a lot of stuff out, I disagree with that kind of practice (unless it's a site where actual mining/prospecting is allowed like a gold claim, but normally you have to pay to dig in areas like that or your own private property if you find rocky spots). Also, don't just assume some of the stuff you find near your place isn't as special. The actual dirt/sediment of your land was formed by the same process, sediment and fine sand being carried down from the mountains and gradually spreading out in layers in the valley down below. You might find some very cool stuff even when digging in very "boring" looking places. It takes the right kind of eyes and experience to know, but I'm just saying, don't overlook stuff around your own place because it might have some very cool stuff too. I personally don't have a problem with people gathering stuff in public right of way type spaces if it's very small and stuff no bigger than you can carry in one hand, but I'd personally not use tools to dig into stuff or remove stuff that is part of the bedrock or take anything that is very large. It makes the land much less stable when you take big stuff, but taking a few handfuls of smaller rocks like you did (which I think is fine) isn't a big deal as long as you aren't just taking and taking and taking repeatedly from the same spot. Kinda a cool thing about living in alluvial floodplains next to mountains like that is you can find some cool rocks (and things like those small crystals). You might come to really find the geology aspect of the area where you're at fascinating. There is a lot of cool stuff like that, especially in Arizona (mining was one of the first major industries in the state, you'll probably notice many museums about it as you visit different places). Those type of cool rocks are everywhere (and others), you can probably even find them when digging or looking around rocky spots on your properties. Also, good luck with the shower building. It's cool that you are learning on something small like that. Mistakes will be made, maybe even the remedies won't work out, but if you learn something, the next time you'll be better and better. I am not particularly handy or strong, so I probably would have struggled to do even as much as you guys have accomplished. Definitely pick the brain of that contractor you work with if you get the chance. I would even ask him things like where he gets materials (is it also Home Depot)? A lot of times, you can find small lumber yards or hardware stores that might be cheaper than HD. Sometimes they are convenient too and might have better prices or better quality for what you pay for. Places like that might carry stuff like drywall too, it never hurts to ask. If you haven't already, you can go on Google maps and search "lumber near me" and see if there are any other places in that area you can check out. You can even call them sometimes and ask them about prices, just look at what you normally buy at Home Depot and write down those names, and then call them up and ask them if they have the same kind of lumber or an equivalent and what it costs. Sometimes they have other types of lumber that is better/cheaper/etc, so try to ask questions if you find people who are good at explaining. I know you probably know this, but I think you might be able to save some money on some of this stuff and it might be places that are about as easy to get to. Kingman has some of that stuff and likely some of the surrounding areas too (even as far as Bullhead City/Fort Mohave

@simplysimona45626 күн бұрын
Yes. I’ve seen 3 within the year I’ve been out here! I like the rattlesnakes cause they warn you if you know if you get near them so I love having that warning🙂
@b4k4survivor5 күн бұрын
@@simplysimona4562 thank you for being respectful of the native wildlife. Be very careful always of course, and watch Judah the best you can (I always cringe a little when he's off leash because I worry about snakes, but there is training for it so dogs will avoid them, and it is your own judgment about having him off lead/etc). I just want to warn you that younger rattlesnakes don't always have developed "rattles" on their tales, so they'll flick their tails like other rattlesnakes do, but they won't always make a sound. Also, a common way people have problems with snake is if they step on them or reach up above them (like when climbing a rock when hiking) and step on or accidentally grab the snake. In that case, you can be bit with no warning because the snake might not have realized how close you were. Very common injury in the colder months is people, pets, horses stepping on snakes that are out in the road, on a sidewalk, on a trail because the snake likes to sun itself to charge its battery for hunting at night. P.S. I want to thank you again for having a healthy respect for rattlesnakes and appreciation for them. They also do a wonderful job helping to keep the rodent population down. They are a vital part of the desert ecosystem, so I really appreciate that you don't automatically treat them as some horrible thing. You should definitely be respectful of them, a snake bite is no joke (it's a medical emergency that requires immediate medial attention and likely very expensive anti-venom), and I highly suggest you watch videos about what to do when you encounter them if you haven't already, perhaps even having the phone number of removal experts in your area that you can call if you ever have a snake in a place that you can't deal with. You'll find videos where they show you how you can use a good spray bottle to sort of spray the back of a snake and convince it to move (like kinda coaxing it away from your structure/etc). There are also videos that show you how you can possibly put them into buckets with special lids using hooks like you've probably seen snake handlers use and relocating them away from your property, ideally no further than 1 mile from where you found them (or they are very likely to die if you relocate them more than 1 mile) -- but that kind of stuff generally takes special equipment and training and I would not suggest it for non-professionals. Still, you can learn some things from watching videos like that and it might make you appreciate it more if you ever do need to call a removal professional. Removal professionals might not be terrible expensive either because I think a lot of those types of people actually do that job because they respect the animal and appreciate when people don't just kill them/etc. There are things you can do too, like not creating "snake habitat" or places they like to hang out. Piles of material, especially wood, can be a prime snake habitat because they like to hunker down in cooler places in the hotter parts of the day. Like, I would advice as you complete your shower house, you consider buying a wire mesh from home depot called "hardware cloth" or maybe metal skirting to cover the crawlspace underneath and provide a physical barrier to prevent snake or rodents/other animals from getting under there. It's more complicated than I can explain here, but if you've ever seen a mobile home or cabin, a lot of time they have like metal or even wood "skirting" that covers the space underneath them. If it was hardware cloth or metal, I would suggest digging a shallow ditch (like 6 inches deep) and extending the hardware cloth that far down, then backfilling with dirt. That way, it discourages any "burrowing" type animals. It needs to be hardware cloth or a solid piece of metal too because chicken wire won't stop rodents or snakes or even other animals like say a javelina/coyotes even.
