I never knew Bill Williams was behind Bart's Nightmare. Played it all the time when I was a kid, and while it did have quite a few flaws (most likely due to the corporate meddling that ran Bill off of games entirely), I still felt Bill's genius shining through, even before I'd known who he even was. Very bizarre, I'd even say underrated, game.

The Simpsons Game was the first game to really show me how creative and clever of a medium video games had the potential to be. I had no idea you could recreate Springfield and run around in it via video games, or create the crossover I always wanted of Futurama and Simpsons. Things that seemed impossible to my young mind were shown to be real and possible through video games. I don’t think I’d be the same gamer I am today without The Simpsons Game.

After being removed, Tapped Out was rereleased with most of the bugs fixed, and essentially led to freemium mobile titles inspired by it like SpongeBob Moves In and Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff, which, like Tapped Out, use an isometric perspective, potentially due to Tapped Out's perspective being similar to SimCity 2000 and SimCity 3000, which EA made years before Tapped Out's release and eventual rerelease.

Damn, Bill Williams managed to do all of that with Cystic Fibrosis AND he managed to live to be 38. That's pretty impressive. 38 is a long life for somebody with CF. Especially without having a lung transplant, and considering he was stuck with 90s era medicine. The average life span for someone with CF at present is only 37, so it stands to reason it was significantly shorter back then. Looks like it was around 28 years in 98. Woulda been a lot less when he was born. So that's very impressive. I bet it had a big part to do with his work and keeping busy. My great aunt had leukemia and was given 3-5 years to live. She had a small farm that she maintained and wound up living with leukemia for another 30 years.
