The Captain never did specify how long Pete would dance for one nickel. From the pluralization of "hours," we know that one quarter gets at least two hours. Okay but the fact that the lead up for this joke makes no sense is just crisp classic Simpsons. Bart just so happens to be carrying a balloon with Krusty’s face on it (instead of an actual photo), there just so happens to be a sailor that literally looks like the deformed balloon, he JUST so happens to look a little like Krusty, despite having no affiliation with him, and the fact that he plays The Sailor’s Hornpipe (undoubtedly the second most stereotypical shanty aside from Drunken Sailor) is just the icing on the cake.

Stations buy rights to show re-runs. They shorten the shows a little bit and have more commercials. Just about every re-run I saw originally is shorter by about 40 seconds. It must be about 💰💰💰

There is a theory going around that Handsome Pete is one of Krusty's illegitimate children from his one-night stands. If it was true, than that means Krusty just gave a thirteen dollar check to one of his children (at least it'll be one point of good fathering for Krusty).
