Fox's marketing was really bad and manipulative, like for the Malibu Stacy episode, it was marketed around something stupid, Bart being devious with the new doll, even though Bart was not even the focus at all in that episode. It's the oldschool way of promoting with the practice of "we have to keep the stakes high, so make up something enticing and that'll draw them in" and then you get a really thought out episode for a completely different reason. The logic is that the ends justify the means. If you can market it, you got gold.

Our principle made an announcement and sounded very concerned, “teachers and faculty, please keep students in your classrooms and the doors locked, there is a wild animal that has entered our premises, specifically, a stray dog.
