This was another good episode in this fascinating series - thank you. You have not come across anything unusual for a 40 year old motor car; I think there is a pretty good chance that you will make it roadworthy and at least break (which is a good result for 240 restorations). It is up to you of course, but I’d suggest not getting carried away with the restoration or performance modifications - they never pay. Well done.
@SimpsonsClassics4 ай бұрын
Thanks Alan I appreciate that. Hopefully we can it’s all on time and parts really. I am not getting carried away just a quick clean of parts that come for that’s all. Performance wise nothing is planned as of yet just want her road legal. The wheels and springs where purely because the cost of those was cheaper than the tires. So it was a no brainer. 👍 thanks for watching buddy.
@alanothen39624 ай бұрын
@@SimpsonsClassics I think the wheels are just fine, as they came with good tyres that was an excellent reason to fit them. I’m a bit dubious about lowering cars, but as they weren’t expensive and you had to take the suspension apart anyway the springs should be okay as long as they don’t cause clearance problems later in the project. It looks like you might achieve a good running and riding 245 for a couple of grand plus your time, which is a really good result and the finances will be in the black. We frequently see folk get carried away at that point and end up spending tens of thousands… often those projects end up in tears. Well done, this is an interesting project and a really good series. @alanothen3962 I appreciate that. If I didn’t get the springs with the car I would have left it for now until future plans unfold. But fingers crossed it’s drives well like this. It’s not silly low. The back will raise up once the front is back down. Budget wise I am keeping tabs but for me I just want to drive this and the budget is there to do just that. Later plans can come in good time. 👍

Enjoyed the video. Good progress on the 245. Can't wait to see it finished so you can move up to the Amazon. ;) thanks!

Come on Matt. Join the Volvo crew, just make sure it's not as rusty as the others on the channel. I also like how the mockup height is close to the actual height

Haha he does need one doesn’t he! I was very happy with the height, let’s see how she sits once the front is down on the floor.

Loving the volvo project I owned one 20 years ago and it was great! Have you tried Pilkington for a screen as they have a lot listed for the 240 series. They made one for me when I had an Opel Monza GSE and the quality was great and so was the price.
