This was really helpful to hear you reason through the questions, debating pros and cons for different answers. Spoken reasoning was somehow easier to comprehend than trying to reason this out in writing or to follow a written guide. Thanks for doing this!

Hiya! At 18'46': "most of the analysts" (analyse/proivide info about the other players); this still means that they are ALL analysts - whatever they analyse or do. (Compare with this statement: "Most 4-wheel drive cars are black, blue or white." > We're still talking about all 4-wheel drive cars; not bicycyles or aeroplanes). For that reason, I feel the explanation and answer given by Watson Glaser itself is incorrect. Sim, can you see whether you agree?
@oyedapo61423 жыл бұрын
That’s what I thought
@carlfigpucker67943 жыл бұрын
The first line confirmed that everyone being employed is an analyst, and the last line confirmed that Stuart is among them, hence the inference. It should’ve been this simple, idk how how did the officials arrive at that answer.

I did the one thing you weren't supposed to do ... I last minuted the test with like three hours total prep. This video and your sheet pretty much saved me and I passed 😭 Tysm
@user-nr1vg2jd1z2 жыл бұрын
How on earth did you do it with 3 hours prep?!! Wow well done! Any advice?
@Trolligarch2 жыл бұрын
@@user-nr1vg2jd1z Well my biggest advice would be to _not_ do what I did and actually prep for the Watson-Glaser 😭 The main takeaway I got from this video was learning the different question types (I didn't even know the difference between the five types of questions!). I then just speed ran as many practice questions as I could. Without much practice, I couldn't do the test through intuition or experience so the main point of speedrunning practice questions was to ensure I at least understood the formulas for working out each of the questions (like you don't want to get deductions [which require 100% certainty] and interpretations [beyond a reasonable doubt] mixed up!) The reason why I heavily advise against doing what I did is simple: I'm pretty sure I lucked out. If I was made to do five Watson-Glaser tests in a row to average out my score, I think my average score would be lower than what I got. Also, it's worth noting that I just passed - I didn't get above average or anything (but I was 4% off). If I prepped, I think I would've gotten above average which would've definitely strengthened my application. Law firms, after all, justify the inclusion of the Watson-Glaser because they believe it's one of the better indicators of whether you'll do well for your LPC (and thus whether you'll be a good investment). Alas, it doesn't matter anyways because this law firm rejected my application :^) Ah well, at least next time I'm going to be more prepared for the Watson-Glaser :P

I'm pretty sure the stated answer to the inference question on Stuart Archer is wrong. I'd have said "probably true". That's because he works in the data analysis team and most of them are Data Analysts (although, he may be a manager, tech support or admin). Given that MOST of them are data analysts, it can reasonably be inferred that on the balance of probability, he's a Data Analyst. it's not true beyond a reasonable doubt from the statement, but statistically, it's more likely to be true than not.
@slrockerguys2 жыл бұрын
I had the same logic but surprised with the answer. Non technical person may have designed the question.
@lucabelle487 Жыл бұрын
I thought it was true. As the inference said he was an analyst. In the statement "most of these analysts" still states everyone in the team is an analyst. The only difference being that most of them are analysts specific to the opposition
@shekharpanse9777 Жыл бұрын
Nowhere has it been stated that "most of them are data analysts". The question statement only talks about a sub-team (a part of the larger group) focussing on opposition (MOST of THESE analysts). These could mean any number and most is a portion of 'these'!

Insightful. Although I believe there are three questions here that don’t seem right, particularly this one: Statement interpretation: Everyone who suffers with depression also experiences some type of personal battle. For example, Chloe’s dog passed away while Jamie lost his job. It says that ‘conclusion follows’ for this statement: Jamie lost his job because of depression. - If the statement was just about the lost job, then yes, we can infer that the depression was the cause. But because this comes in the same sentence as the dying dog, this cannot logically be so. This would imply that the causal chain is the same for both statements in the sentence. As far as I know losing one’s job does not cause one’s dog to die. The only way it makes sense is if the causality is going in the other direction: the depression came as a result of these two negative incidents. I don’t see how their conclusion can follow for one example and not for the other. -This makes me even more worried about the test.

I did the same as you for the first question because there was nothing to imply that the girl was ashamed or embarrassed or anything in the text. The problem I have with inferences is that in some questions it's like yh you need to use ur common sense because it does make sense that she may have brushed it off so her mum wouldn't worry but when I've tried to apply this logic to other practice tests in the inference section the answer and explanation will say something different and give another answer like well it doesnt say anything about that in the text to imply that this might be the case so we're not gonna consider it and that really confuses me. ( its hard for me to explain what I mean but I hope it makes some sense)

@simranjeetkmann3 жыл бұрын
Usually the law firm provides you an invitation to complete the test from home. Official sites for practice tests are listed in the video description. There is no fee to take the test, but some people may choose to pay for practice test packs. Results aren't valid for life - each firm can ask different questions in the Watson Glaser test, so just because you do well in one, doesn't mean that result sticks for the next time you do another test for another firm.

Good Lord this test is utter garbage! Your video was good and you did your best explaining, etc. but the test itself? So the question with the statement 'the psychologist emphasized the need to...' sure seems like the psychologist thinks the Mother is being over-protective. The other one 'insufficient data' 'probably true', but I thought we were supposed to assume 'all statements are true', thus saying 'well maybe the little girl just didn't want to upset her mother'... seems like NOT taking the statements at face value and instead 'presuming' something about the daughter's state of mind... garbage in... garbage out... on this test.

8:17 The first question is true because it is show in the text that the daughter is saying it just fun playing but the mother see it as bullying , two different views .
