Have to say, I loathe building in Sims 4: sure it’s nice to be able to move your entire house, and it is sort of easier to place windows in the center of walls. On the other hand, it’s so easy to drag things up and down walls that it usually takes multiple frustrating tries to get things where I want them; a lot of stuff is non-intuitive (like why is the default fence placement replacing a wall with fence - why do you even need multiple methods for placing a fence?), and roofs, which were already a nightmare in earlier Sims games, are somehow even more annoying to place. But hey, you did a nice job with your starter home! 🎉 I’m only marginally fond of Sims 4 (mostly because I was recently gifted the Paranormal pack and it actually is kind of fun?), but I will still enjoy watching you take apart Sims 4 builds with your trademark wit! 😊

I have such a hard time building in Sims 4. You did a great job with it. It looks a lot nicer than what we can afford in Sims 3.

sims 3 is so expensive, AND you get less simoleons.

The keys to building a starter 1 bed cheaply in S3: 20 tile bedroom, 9 tile bathroom, and the big room is what's left. Total tiles for house is about 90 or so max. Walls cost the most, keep the house squarish with few to no bump outs and such. One level only. Cheapest furniture is fine at the start, but if you can afford it upgrade the shower, bed, refrigerator and stove. Still use CAS to make it nicer rather than pick something more expensive if you can. Use Pool Wall and Simple Flooring with CAS for all the walls/floors. If you use a foundation replace the wall coverings on that with Pool Wall on the outside and the free stud wall with all channels at 000000 inside. Also use the alt key to make it 1 step so stairs are cheaper. The free raw wood floor can look nice if you use the right wood swatch in CAS. I usually build a reasonably nice crib for under 12000 this way.

That's a cute little house. Well done. I was somewhat hoping Sims 2 builds would be next (2 is my all time favourite and entry point), but this will be interesting! "Okay, this house doesn't use the higher walls for no reason, has no green bathroom and it doesn't use five different windows, so it's already a Twinbrook 5." Meanwhile somewhere in EA HQ: *Rolling Stones Paint it black starts playing as several workers sweat profusely* Sims 4 build mode is, honestly, a lot of fun. I sometimes boot up Sims 4 just to build a house that I will never use, because whenever I play the normal game it's a continuous "meh" with a bunch of "why doesn't this work properly?! Sims 2 could do that" sprinkled in. Only thing I don't get is why they couldn't do seperate swatches. Like in 2 if you place a bed you could switch the wood/metal and bed sheet colour seperately. Plus Sims 2' bedsheets are uniform across all beds, giving a decent number of possible combinations ranging from "neutral grey" to "wtf is this?". Still... building is the most fun aspect of 4. As for the worlds... most excited for Windenburg (because European) and the japanese themed one, whose name I forgot (because not build by underpaid EA interns).

So I would use a table instead of a desk for the computer because its just a computer on it and the tables are cheaper. Also in basegame for a starter, I tend to leave off the dresser because with a mirror its not really necessary. But those are just me, I guess, and this is for the EA Princess. But I do use more expensive beds and appliances, maybe one chair that is high rating, and go cheap with everything else. Mostly because I want the sim to have some money to live on for a bit while they build skills. Actually, I think I do it like that in all the Sims games not just 4.

Hey again friend. I wanted to let you know that I have been renovating Sunset Valley and have been redoing alot of my old renovations. Even redid Musquito Cove, rebuilding again. where I'd replaced it before. And just renovated Goth Mansion. I had redone the mansion before. But this time I kept the base home on the left side with a minor change, adding a small balcony in the bay window on that side. And kept the big sun room or whatever you call it, on the backside. But I did add more space on the right side. Giving the place 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. I did gut the interior all three floors tho. If i could get into your discorde i'd share my works with you and your friends.

@@Rekowcski I am actually playing the goth family right now. i should say my own created Goth family. As in my rebuild of the manor, I gave it a back story in which the house was nearly destroyed in a fire that also killed Mortimer's parents. While he was at school. They were unable to escape the house before being consumed. So i could explain why the house is totally different to the original manor. I did gut the whole place except the stairs so I can work with the space available. Just the ground floor wall colors are all the same but for the kitchen and bathroom. Upstairs I changed the bedroom walls only. The only intact part of the original house is the solarium at the back, but i filled in the pit garden space

As I had no mosquito cove to rebuild from. This was before I started going into Sunset Valley that i use to rebuild my world. I rebuilt it with a few ideas of my own. it sort of looks like the original with the pond in front. I just didn't put any bugs around the pond.
