(replies to e-mail) You do ANYTHING, Faraday - and you'll be hearing from my lawyer. I've put up with your tyranny for numerous years but you are now crossing a line by claiming that keeping a pervert in the company is a worthy sacrifice. It seems only YOU can think for YOURSELF, i'm just doing things which are GOOD for the company - if you can't accept that, you're not cut out to be the leader of Faraday SECURITY. So i'm giving you 3 options, Step down from your leadership position, sack me and hear from my lawyer, or actually ACCEPT what true sacrifices are and do things for the COMPANY, not what YOU see fit - as that means you're a power-hungry maniac. Choose wisely, otherwise you will be unemployed as I know for a fact that Elizabeth from HR would do a better job running the place than you - consider this your final warning, otherwise I will also see to it that you are put in jail for aiding a pervert.

Currently paused at 2:40:00 to leave my theories - will edit when video's finished. My guess so far is that Ashley is somehow behind all of this. They kept it pretty subtle, but at one point even John took a moment to say how Ashley was totally crushing on Anna, during the drunken texts. It feels like that also, since she basically pressured Anna into joining Spark and even made a profile for her - She may even be Catfishing under the James persona, since that guy somehow knew so much about Anna and her past. When we the player text Ashley, my only guess is she's feigning ignorance so she can get away with whatever she's doing with Anna. And with the creepy glitched-up texts from "James" ...well, the name and photo was likely a real person. Maybe Ashley did something to hurt or get rid of him in real life? I don't see how that would help her at all, unless maybe she got busted and tried to silence him. I'm not sure if the game's intent is to have supernatural elements, or if it's simply the lore of the near-sentient IRIS computer trying to help out (and creep out) the player. I guess I'll see once the playthrough is finished, but this has been really interesting to watch so far! *edit / spoilers* Okay damn, I was way the fuck off. I should've figured it'd come down to being "supernatural" of sorts, but the whole beginning really seemed more like a whodunnit mystery. I still think it was an interesting little experience though, John pretty much covered all the little flaws the game had.

Damn that was extensive. Just finished watching the whole thing. It definitely had its moments where it gave me major chills because the topic was realistic (up until the end...) I didn't like that the big bad guy in the end seemed so mystical and it seemed a little like social commentary? It would have been much scarier if we weren't talking to the scrambled voice of the embodiment of another reality?? (Idk how to describe the Simulacra...) Like John said, I wish there was more of a real life threat, but the little things like the background picture of Anna changing periodically was fucking terrifying to me. They seemed to go too big at the end with their explanation.
@belles_library7 жыл бұрын
Not sure if I really "got" the ending, and the meaning of the virus. The story and ending was much more clear in Sara is Missing. I was on board until the reveal it wasnt a outside threat, like you said. This game was a bit too ambitious for its own good.
@xBenjiSx7 жыл бұрын
This was long, but I really enjoyed it. Yeah, you've missed some stuff (Applesauce and whatnot), but overall I liked your thought processes (the Critical Thinking, eh?) and commentary. Good stuff. The game looks like fun, despite it shortcomings it managed to creep me out. Probably because it's premise is quite mundane. Most of it could happen to anyone, just sitting in their room, right? The little bangs of the pipes in my flat and the wind howling in the night added to the atmosphere :) Just another random thought... It wasn't really explained how you get the phone. Sure, you are given two options in dialogue, but then it's never stated who would send the phone to you or leave it at your doorstep. At least in the previous game you just find the phone in a park or somewhere...
@siegwardinspirit7 жыл бұрын
xBenjiSx nice to see a comment like this. Half the comment section was full of backseat gaming haha. And the phone thing irritated me a little as well. If it was explained somewhere, it would be ok. he was also in sulky mode, so he wouldn't have listened anyway - you've got to hate people like that, who refuse to listen to you and take your advice just because you disagree with them on a few points - he says that he did most of the work with finding Anna and that you were treating him like a sidekick, that's because it was you and Greg who did most of the work - as it was Greg who informed you of the back-ups, which lead to you finding James which got you to Anna - but Taylor's in the background taking credit, all he did was research the mishap on Spark - you spoke to Yolanda, looked through the messages and found James, spoke to Phil, spoke to Cassie and set up the account - Taylor did none of that. Greg informed you of the back-ups, notified you about it being someone from Spark and was willing to hand himself in to rescue Anna. Just saying how it's funny that he takes full credit for what he did 15% of, and you did 50% and Greg 35%.
@msochist84915 жыл бұрын
The Fiery Jungle Lol, when put like that, you are 100% right. Honestly Taylor didn't do much. The protagonist ends up having to do most of the work since they have Anna's phone and the key to solving the mystery heavily relies on using her identity to get information out of people.

I''m only 6 minutes into the video and I know this is the stupidest, smallest thing to be annoyed by, but... Couldn't they have changed the timestamps on some of the messages? Like 8-9 texts sent and received within the time span of a minute? Come oooooooonnn.

@Randomeaninglessword7 жыл бұрын
I'd say that's a fair complaint, given that text conversations are a pretty important part of the game.
@sejin10147 жыл бұрын
@Kali Takumi It's not the amount of texts alone, but that combined with their length versus the time span they were sent in. Like the one at, say 7:30 from the mother (might be even better examples but that was the first one I found when I clicked randomly). If it were a couple of words in every message, fine, but it isn't. And I'm also OK with the real-time instant replies since waiting around for a realistic response time would be awful. But they could've at least pretended that half a minute or so passed between every reply instead of stamping like 14 "lengthy" texts as sent in 60 seconds. As I said, it might be ridiculously small thing to get annoyed by, but it is enough to completely break immersion for me.

A few things but I know this video is a few years old: 1] The Toliet seat thing: Ashley asking about that the seat getting left down, so that meant Greg would have pissed on it, [although I would rather sit in pee than in a cold toliet bowl]. Meaning Anna would have sat in Gregs piss. 2] That pregnancy test was positive. Even the DEVS got that one wrong by using that photo

That sexual harassment thing literally happened to me and that's literally how the company acts if you try to do anything even though some of the lower managers pushed you into it the higher a manager gets mad at you

I'm so sorry you've gone through that. I can say the same, sadly. About the game, the ending got me kinda sad too, the fact only 29% reported it on a game says a lot, idk...

Hey John, this might just be nitpicking but I just wanna say that the investigation behind the "animal abuse video" in the movie "A Dog's Purpose" revealed that it was edited to be misleading. Anyway I'm still in the middle of watching, great commentary so far XD Just wanna point this out.

Like I enjoyed this game but I am so sick of this idea that technology is controlling our lives, like somehow life was more virtuous and real when you got a job at a factory in your local town and married the boy who lived next door. Come on.
@TwighlightLugia7 жыл бұрын
I am sick to death of this trend in otherwise good games (looking at you, SuperHOT.) Like, can we give it a rest, dudes? No one's impressed by your woke commentary on technology, no one cares how many "smart" memes you post on Facebook demonizing a cell phone. We get it.
@misscrankypantss7 жыл бұрын
Lisylis I don't think you're supposed to take what the villain of the story says seriously?
@lisylis83637 жыл бұрын
Mellisa Fan Okay so when you're analysing a text, the key ideas and concepts (in this case, the explanation the villain gives for why this is all happening) within the text are called "themes". Man vs technology is a pretty common theme. In this case this theme underpins the entire game.
@peppermillers83617 жыл бұрын
I don't mind it honestly. Maybe it's because I tend to judge a thing by their quality and not be annoyed by a single thing, but whatever. I didn't mind the story in Superhot either, since the gameplay was pretty solid.
@Arvalen7 жыл бұрын
The main message I got from this game is that our online personas or lack thereof shouldn’t be the basis for judgment, not that technology is evil, but we all have our own perceptions.

Mine too. They just seem to think that because you graduated high school some dude in a suit will stand outside of your door with an invitation for a high paying, non-shit workplace that treats you well. Im reading into it but it's a baby boomer thing. I just respond, "a job???? in this economy barbara???"
@littlekitsune15 жыл бұрын
Not inherently, no. The "get a job and be stable = happiness" is a pretty common boomer mentality, but the mom in this is being a pretty manipulative bitch overall.

I thought that no animals got hurt during the making of "A Dog's Purpose"? I saw the video of the German Shepherd not wanting to go in the water, but I thought actor for the older version of the first owner said that it was just the dog not wanting to cooperate anymore for the day. They didn't force it, he said I believe.

I've seen the footage and that dog was 100% in distress. Animal movies in general are pretty notorious for that, which is why mostly CGI is used now.

Sigh, I really want to like this game but it feels like something is missing... The concept could be interesting but they execute it pretty bad, but at least it wasn't as bad as SIM (but it's still bad). I would love to see them try to tackle something like this where one of the people you're talking to is the culprit instead of weird spirit entities coming out of left feild, because they're not pulling off that so well. However they do pull off the whole "Who done it" kind of thing and I think they should focus more on giving us that kind of experience. I hope to see them improve on their concepts, I think they can do something great if they keep trying! I love having long videos here and there though John! I did like the video and it was an interesting experience!

by the way, 11:51 , the reason they were upset is cause when you don't lift the toilet seat, i guess it gets splashed with piss? then it's annoying to not put it back down cause you'll fall in if you don't realize it's up.
