Sailors hat crater. The pool at the bottom of the crater meets the criteria of an anchialine pond because it shows tidal fluctuation, has measurable salinity, and lacks surface connections to the sea. The water chemistry of this pool is similar to the ocean except silica is elevated and salinity is slightly depressed suggesting a small groundwater influence. The fauna is dominated by waterboatmen, an endemic shrimp and tubeworm, polychaetes, amphipods, an ostracod, gastropod, solitary ectoproct. anemone, flatworm and sponge. The atyid shrimp, Halocaridina rubra, is a characteristic species of Hawaiian anchialine systems and probably colonized this pool by active migration via the watertable. Colonization by the remaining fauna may have occurred by storm surf (for marine species) or with the wind.

500t 🤔 that had to be more surely. It looked way bigger, than just 500 ton Very impressive especially the shockwave. Where was the crater it caused 🤔?

Fooled me at first thinking it was a mini-nuke. They should've used something like this for the movie Oppenheimer instead of lighting some gas on fire - would've looked significantly better than the end result. A nuclear blast should not be that difficult to create/computer generate/film in the year 2024, but sure enough, most nuclear explosions in movies rarely look like the actual thing.

Shock waves are supersonic and their speed increases with power. A distance estimate based on the speed of sound will be short.
@rockets4kids
@rockets4kids 4 ай бұрын
@@josephastier7421 The blast wave goes subsonic rather quick and this can be ignored for a rough estimate of distance. If it makes you feel better, consider this a lower bound on stand-off distance here.

@@kzm1934 I think they're pointing out that even with convention methods you could still make an explosion that has the look and scale of a nuclear explosion, instead of the "50 gallons of gas with a firecracker taped to the side of the barrel" method they went with for the movie.
@AtomicAerials

@@kzm1934 so was the explosion filmed to represent Trinity, but it didnt look anything like Trinity. This video shows how closely a non-nuclear explosion could look, if done right.
