Hello, Can we do impact/crushing/compression study using Linear Static Simulation?

You can get an idea of where the peak stresses and deformations will be, but it will be an approximation.

@@raymont-osmanproductdesign3973 thank you for the prompt response. Imagine that I have a pen on a hydraulic press. Can the breaking of pen be simulated on linear static simulation or will it require non-linear one? And why?

@@solidworkslady When a material breaks, it is has gone past the range when it's material behaves in a linear way on its stress strain curve. Your problem would be very complicated, and into the level of complexity for the deformation of a car in crash tests. It would need very specialist software and highly skilled engineers to even give you an approximation.
