Best SimPowerSystems presentation I've seen to date.

The data is injected from 1-minute recordings. This data in necessary to produce the load shapes. The data belongs to Pecan Street, Inc., but is not available for public use. You may try generating solar data (w/o fluctuations) using a normal distribution function.

Good job. The phasor mode is so useful in simulation of a large system.

Yes. There are PQ measurement blocks that return Q. The voltage drops are available the voltages at all nodes is known.

Thanks for this great video! This is helpful in many ways for me. Maybe you should tune down the volume of the background music a little bit.

Before the simulation beings, a PF array is created with random values that vary between 0.7 lagging and 0.7 leading. Unfortunately, the recorded data only includes real power and not reactive power. The +- 0.7 range was estimated from: PF = P/S = I1 / I cos(phi1) = 1/(SQRT(1+THD^2) cos(phi1), where P=real power, S=total power, I1=fundamental rms current, I total current in rms including all harmonics, phi1=angle between V1 and I1, THD = total harmonic distortion.

Yes, one may compute all branch powers and voltage drops through the V-I phasors the simulation returns.

Thanks for the explanation of the model. How can I run both DC and AC system in "Phasors mode of powergui"? My model works with AC alone, but not with DC source included. Gives error "There is no voltage source, current source, or machine block with a frequency matching the Phasor simulation frequency."

Thanks very much for uploading this. Where could I find the measurement block you used? I could only find one with V, I output. Or should I calculate the P,Q and create a subsystem?
@utcem10 жыл бұрын
It is a custom block. You may copy it from the example model available for download.

Unfortunately not, but it very easy to re-create in SimPowerSystems. 0-5 kW random power consumption can be used for each house as a start.
@gregornashi23639 жыл бұрын
A very good video tutorial. The section in the end is a bit rushed and does not show in detail the house models and the integration of solar panels withte house systems. Until some days ago, you had the model avaialble for upload only to some special people with permissions. It looks like you have taken it off for some reason. Woudl you be so kind to make it available, plese? I have reporduced the model up to a certain stage. I woudl like to integrate it into a bigger model of the national powergrid I have created for my project. Then I need to do pen testing on the system, It would be nice to tell me if it is possible or not. Thank you anyway,

Excellent video! Thank you so much for uploading that video. I am strongly interested in Pecan Street Project. Do I have a chance to obtain whole simulink design (three phase)?
@MadhuranandaPahar11 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for uploading this video. I just wondered how did you create power output in your three-phase meter1. I am using 'Three-Phase V-I Measurement', but I cannot find the power output there. Only two are visible - Vabc and Iabc. Thanks in advance.

I was trying to implement it on Simulink but as a beginner I need a reference data for houses which I couldn'y find anywhere. If you can guide me regarding the reference data for each house it would help me understanding the impact on each house and think on improvement of the system for a specfic country.

I want to thank you a lot for the video! I have some questions about it. How did you manage to simulate reactive dynamic generation/consumption power in the household or industrial area?
@utcem12 жыл бұрын
Yes, "lump" the homes into one single load at each transformer. Reduce the complexity of the control. Increase the simulation time step.
@BillLeBoucher729 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tutorial. I have some problems when I start the simulation. First, I wondered to know how can you use the scope in phasor ? Every time, I have the message "is a signal of numeric type complex. However, it is driving a signal of numeric type real". Do you know why ?

Hi this looks great but looks like it only covers power distribution from grids. I'm looking for a program where I can create virtual domestic circuits with all the virtual domestic cabling eg, 2.5mm, 4mm etc and be able to wire up virtual appliances to test circuit operation efficiency. Is there such a program do you know?? Would love to know. Cheers!

Residential distribution in the U.S. is two-phase (i.e., upstream is a split-phase or center-tapped distribution transformer).
