For me: 200K baht and 5 baht gold, plus paying for the wedding. My wife's family is rural Isaan and her Dad died many years ago. So, it is just her aging Mom and her 13-year-old son whom her mom has raised. I can hear everyone screaming "don't pay a thing; she didn't go to university, already has a kid", I shouldn't pay for wedding since I paid sin sod, etc. etc. But here's the thing: they have zero money and it is peanuts to me. The 200K baht will pay off an agricultural debt at the bank. The have never owned gold before. My wife's best friend growing up next door got 200K baht, so it is important for my wife's mom to get the same to save face (even though neighbor's daughter went to university and didn't have a kid prior). My wife is wonderful, and I couldn't be happier. So, it's all OK. They can have the money and the gold. I'm happy to be with her and help her family.

if any girl's parents asking excessively/ insane amount of money to marry her either walk away or give them what you think is appropriate amount if your girlfriend has some common sense she would know what she can do to make your two get to happy medium otherwise forget it

Why get married in the first place? A girlfriend will give you EXACTLY the same that a wife would but with FREEDOM and if you break up you don’t have to go through a messy divorce and all the headaches that go with it. In USA 53% of marriages end in divorce. Add to that the marriages that are “dead” but due to children and assets don’t go through a divorce: 10%~20% So that means you have an institution that fails to people 73% of the time. I also heard that a marriage between an Asian woman and western man has very high rates of divorce as well. Dowry???? What does she bring on to the table? She has been with other men, she is probably not highly educated and can’t earn any money. Moreover you as the western man are expected to help her whole family with money. Who helps you as a man? Nobody! Who comes to your rescue as a man if you lose all your money? Nobody! Why get married? I see men talking about love like 15 year old high-school girls, it’s pathetic!!!! Ok you get married and get an extended spouse visa but I much rather do a visa run and keep my freedom.

You are absolutely right I am afraid!! Modern society is changing. Marriage stays old fashioned and if it fails, a definite trouble maker.....but it stays beautiful and brings temporary dreams in couples....

@@phiphihuahinthailand hey thanks for replying. I knew a Swedish guy who was based in Hua Hin and he told me us a nice town worth checking out and super affordable to live in. I am just around the corner from Thailand. I have been in Asia for many years and staying here forever. The west is just a terrible place to live… that’s my opinion. I liked the 500 euro as a month budget video. Thanks for the info. As u can guess I have never been married and I’ve got no kids. Life is good and to me my freedom comes first. I want to keep my life simple. I love Thailand but I also like Vietnam and up the coast in Vietnam you can find super affordable beach towns. I am more familiar with Vietnam and Vietnamese ladies are gorgeous mate. Thanks for the information and I look forward to hear from you.
