+Chad Andrews Ha! Not a golf match, rather a place of worship. We record onsite.

No, it was recorded in Süleymaniye Mosque as we say. We keep our voices appropriately low in churches, temples and mosques. And we believe this helps to communicate the quiet nature of these places of prayer.

I just finished reading couple of paragraphs about this magnificent mosque from Elif Shafak's novel "The Architect's Apprentice" and how much hard work and excellency it was put it in order to build it.. Thank you so much for this lovely video it felt as if I'm literally inside it and hope one day insha'Allah I'll visit it and pray in it in person 😍❤️

I have such a much deeper understanding of for Islam thanks to what I've been learning on CC. It's amazing how their contributions to world history have been swept under the rug, but I watch this video with a renewed appreciation for what this Mosque represents - including incredible engineering. The Great Mosque only took a year! The frontal view of this Mosque is stunning and elegant at the same time. Refined and lovely. Suleyman did not fail in his objective to show Justinian up! Hagia Sofia is no slouch (lol), but I definitely prefer this one. Between the dates of the fire and earthquake, I wonder if there's cause for concern in 2060-something. Strange coincidences, I suppose. ABRAHAM THE DRUNKARD! 🤣😂🤣💀 That was a great and unexpected laugh. You know what? Good for him! He made it work despite his... issues. We can only hope to be as.. adaptive. The talk of the monolithic pillars and their capitals took me back to my early days watching this channel. ❤ This was very soothing and enjoyable to listen to. Great start to the day. On a final note: "Jannisary" is a BAMF-y title I will not soon forget!

Let's just be clear: this building is gorgeous, but hardly distinguishable in its substance from Hagia Sophia.
@smarthistory-art-history6 жыл бұрын
In my experience, in person, the buildings are very different-in the materials, scale, age, sense of weight and in many other ways. Sinan's building has a refinement and clarity that is not at all a quality I saw at Hagia Sophia. I came away understanding the references to the older building but also that these are very different structures.

Hagia Sophia’s equivalent is not Süleymaniye but Selimiye Mosque of Sinan that he says I passed you Hagia sophia
@Mrahamedmalik4 жыл бұрын
Hagia Sophia, was the inspiration to ottoman mosques, to be honest seen them all, full respect to mimar sinan on the excellent design and improved architecture on all the mosque he designed. Hagia Sophia has its place in architectural history for sure, but it does not match what came latter
